Longer dungeons, I'd rather have 3 long dungeons then 7 really short ones.
More character depth, and more characters. More characters also means more time spent befriending characters and viewing events, which is a good thing imo.
Farming and mining. Unlike ToD's system.
New weapons, (which will most likely happen, since each game seems to have a few new ones).
Difficulty setting. I would love for there to be a hard mode, I'm tired of such ease in battles. (I only died against late coliseum bosses in ToD...)
Although this fits in as more character depth, children who have events and personalities.
Larger area, this goes for town, dungeons, and anywhere really.
Main character customization.

I just hope that the story line is longer and a better combat system perhaps? Just pressing A to do combos gets boring, this will be the 5th RF game after all. I didn't buy Tides of Destiny just coz I was sick of the boring combat system. :?

I'd like there to be an even number of bachelors. And children that grow up to a decent age and have their own personalities. Not robots that just say the same thing. Also, yeah, more townspeople, because it doesn't take too long to befriend everyone. Also, customizing how your character looks would be kinda cool, though I'm fine either way.

That, and I'd love a deeper story. I'd like to actually feel threatened by something. Also, I don't like the whole marry after you finish the main story, because then it can feel kinda boring while you're waiting for your kid to be born.

Yeah, I also vote that the village child, make a male and femal one like in RF1, usually spend the afternoon with them. And even have the other village-kids age with yours. And, if you actually play the game after you beat it this long, when your child is age 13, they will come and ask, Mom/Dad...who should I spend more time with? (I put "mom" as a possibility they have the choice of playing as a girl from the start) And they give the choice of choosing the boy, or girl as the person they chose as a friend. Or pick "I shouldn't choose your friends" and it'll be random, the reason for my idea is, if you pick they spend a lot of time with the opposite gender village-child, and you play for another twenty-game-years, he/she will end up marrying em. If you pick same-gender, they'll get a best friend, and there will be a 50/50 chance of them marrying. Pick I shouldn't choose your friends, they'll spend time the three of them together. And still a 50/50 chance at him/her marrying. That's my idea, deal with it! X)

Can't really add to my earlier list.. but..

@Fang, interesting.. but twenty game years? You'd have to skip at least 15 of those, you know how tedious that'd be? Sleeping 1800 times would be sooo painful.

@Fishy 6th RF Game...

I see what you mean...I guess you have a point. it's a good idea though. I think it could be pulled off in a another game though? But, I'd love it if they put explosives into weapons. And REALLY fighting unarmed. Not as a woolie, but with your actual fists!

The problem with fighting with your fists as a human is the fact that in RF you don't kill monsters. You use weapons with Returneth Magic to send them back the Forest of Beginnings. I don't think people's fists can be enchanted with Returneth Magic XD.

Which is really quite confusing, at times. :'D
I mean, buying from the store, you'd know. But forging them... would one be taught how to enchant it? (Because you start using the raw materials.) Or perhaps the forges are enchanted with the spell already. XD

Hmm.....
Someone should make a comic with someone enchanting a protag's fist.
"This won't hurt a bit! ;D"

Yeah I don't really know how it works either. But let's just go with the forge thing.

There is some committee out there who makes sure all forges made enchant the things they make with Returneth Magic. And if not you get fined and the forge can't be used XD.

No, you get sent to the Forest of Beginnings! :D
/shot

XD
Non-retornen enchanted weapons are probably really rare~
Because, what I thought of was that like, only really experienced people could make a forge... and they'd enchant it with retornen immediately.
Then, you'd make forges with other forges, right? XD
In which case, it makes you wonder how long retornen's been around, and if, by now, the original spell is forgotten~
Then again, it's probably common earthmate knowledge they don't even have to learn. Like earthscript! -er, parts of it. *cough*

Long dungeons that are nice and well developed like in ToD.
Interesting characters with nice dialogue and have their quirks (but not too weird like RF3)
interesting requests that develop the characters more.
The old farming and mining system with some nicer, and newer features.

I'd like the dungeons to be longer, the kids to have more personality, and more to do after marriage.

Haha that's what they get for not following the rules XD

You're probably right. I bet there are hardly any weapons out there without Returneth Magic :0.

Hmm I don't know. Returneth Magic has probably been around for hundreds of year. This is getting too confusing. Game why don't you explain this better DX?

I Really hope RF4 has a request system. I adore that feature. It is so much fun c:.

Yush it is! >8D

Well, it really does depend though...
I mean, the Sechs might not. Maybe. There could possibly be remnants of it.. It depends on the history.
Because the Sechs (from what I've heard of them) don't seem to know much magic at all.
Though, they, at one point in time, may have been close with say, Norad, who seem to have their fair share of earthmates. In which case, their equipment and such could have enchantments, passed down from ancient times. (Assuming that it has been hundreds of years.)

XD I s'pose we're just looking too deep, eh? :P

Ooh I love the request system!~ <3
I'm fairly sure they will though. RF2 had it, RFF didn't, but RF3 and ToD are more recent, and they have it as well~

I like how ToD did the events. There was a event you get by talking with the person, and a request as well (at least for the bachelor/ettes.) And the villagers had interesting events as well~ *coughGerardcough*

On the notes of events.. I REALLY hope they make it so events are recognized by other characters and tie into other events.
Also it would be interesting if they limited FP of a character, if you were good enough friends with a different character. e.g. You can't have 6 FP with Quinn without having at least 3 FP with Kelsey or something.. (Obviously this isn't the case in ToD, but it'd be interesting if they added something like that.) I doubt they would add this though.
