Now, I don't think one99five necessarily sees/means it like that, or most likely anyone else who likes the pairing, but I do think that the pair itself has a lot of underlining abuse in it. I've only played MFoMT, but that's what I got the impression of as I played the game.

It's only a double standard if people make it one /pointing out the obvious. It doesn't have to be like that. I'm a woman and I don't find abuse against men funny. Whether it's done by a man or a woman.

I know. I'm a woman, and I don't find it funny either, but that's just the fact of life: society has a very twisted view towards genders, and while we have made many steps towards equality, we still have a long way to go.

I surprised no one has mentioned Carter x Flora yet. I know that pairing is not too popular, probably because Carter is older and kind of... emotionally detached? I mean it's kind of cute that they work together and they end up together, but I think Carter really can't be emotionally invested enough in a relationship to make it work.

Personally I would like to see Nami x Cody, they do kind of hint it during AWL. But Gustafa and Nami is fine with me too.

And Rock x Lumina, ugh...

I agree with all of this. I really think Daryl and Flora would have made a much better couple.

I also love Nami x Cody. I could see Nami being interested and appreciative of Cody's art. Cody's an awesome guy, but he doesn't get much attention 'cause he's not really eccentric (like Daryl) or involved in any pairings.

I know, right? Personally I'd rather woo Cody than most of the other guys.

Cody is awesome. Him and Nami would have made an interesting pair.

Nami x Cody would've been pretty interesting too. I also would've liked to have seen how Gustafa x Lumina may have worked how compared to Rock x Lumina.

Gustafa x Lumina could have been funny or serious. Depending on what they did with it. It would have been cool to see.

They may have history together, but it's not always positive. It's because of Julius that Candace was so painfully shy and had such low self esteem. He may love her, but he did nothing good for her.
Yes, but she got over it and he grew up. That's what makes them interesting. They have a history together, and it's not all rosy, but it isn't so awful that it makes them incompatible.
Ranger wrote:For Julius and Luna, it would make sense since Julius would be able to connect with her due to their similar tastes in fashion, as well as the fact that Julius is the "princely" type that Luna is looking for. Fashion is a very important part of Julius, and since Candace herself doesn't like to dress up in fancy/dressy type outfits, that upsets Julius because he can't connect with her through that, but he wants to. But really, fashion has little to do with why Julius x Candace is a bad combo, but because it's through their differences and inability to be able to bend for the other that makes them a bad pair in the long run.
Having the same fashion sense does not make two people a good couple. Good friends maybe.

Gill is far more of a "princely" type than Julius. And guess who Luna gets paired up with?

Where does Julius say that he can't connect with Candace because she doesn't like to dress up? Maybe he likes her sweet personality, or her awesome sewing skills, or her pretty hair, or all of those things. I didn't get them married in ToT, but in AP they seem quite happy together. I have no idea why you or anyone else would accuse them of being a "bad pair" when there is no evidence of the sort present in the actual game.

She obviously didn't grow over it if it still affects her to this day. The reason she was so shy in ToT was because of the bullying he gave to her as kids. She eventually forgave him, but only after he told her he loved her, and probably she only forgave him and accepted the proposal is because doesn't want to be alone forever and was so surprised someone actually could love her.

As far as the clothes issue goes, there was one event (I think it was in ToT...) where Julius asked her why she wasn't wearing his clothes, and she didn't say anything, but he was very upset by her not wearing them, and he took it personally. For Julius, the way he shows affection and connects with others is through clothes and his fashion. To reject his clothes is a personal blow for him. Of course, Candace really doesn't mean this, but she doesn't realize how much it means to him and due to Julius' impatience, he won't be able to truly get this across as he is more likely to flip out versus calmingly explain why he wants her to wear his clothes so badly. Basically, a big thing wrong with this pairing is the in ability to properly communicate.

Gill is anything but princely. Sure, he's very authoritive and down to earth, but he merely fits the image of a prince, not the stereotypical personality type. In my experience of Gill, he is very introverted and doesn't do too well when it comes to social situations. He's not very romantic, and is often waaaaay too blunt for Luna. I think they make great business partners, and it makes sense that Luna would have a crush on Gill, but I think in the end, there is way too much miscomunication. Julius x Luna would make more sense because both would satisfy their romantic needs. I'm not saying it would be perfect, but I think it would definitely be better then Julius x Candace or Gill x Luna, or at least Julius x Candace at the most/least.

I've thought about Gustafa and Lumina, too, 'cause when I pair up the bachelorettes in my mind, she's the only one left, and I really don't think Carter or Griffin would be right for her.

I think Gustafa and Lumina could be kinda nice...they both like music and play instruments. I think Lumina would enjoy Gustafa's simpler life, and be happy to get away from the mansion and all the pressure.

Yeah, and I saw their (random/friendship) event in DS/C, and it was pretty cute. I think he could help her get motivated in loving music again without having to worry about being perfect at it. Of course, that doesn't make them necessarily romantic compatible, but I think they would work well in general, just like you said, with Gustafa being able to introduce her to a more laid back and relaxed life style.

Lol, can you imagine what the moment where Lumina introduces her new future husband to Romana would've been like?

Lumina: "Grandma, I'd like to introduce you to...my fiancee, Gustafa."
Gustafa: "Hey there, what's happening, sister? ...Whoa, Lumi, your pad is so...far out."
Romana: *faints*
