It's definitely not the 3DS itself but the game. There is no patch to fix it but it is easy to get around. I have not had any freezes in months. I still do the petting game, occasionally but usually I only do it at the end of the day after I finish my mountain foraging.

I found it was more of an issue with what else was being done on my 3DS before I started up the game. My daughter used to use my system to watch videos on Nintendo Video. I found if I shut down my system completely before playing the game, I had no freezes at all. I also play with the wifi off unless I actually plan on using it for streetpass or wifi field.

I've had this game for 3 days and it has frozen on me a dozen times at least (no lie). I have been searching around for a fix for this to no avail. I have found an email posted on a thread that said that it is a memory issue. Also that the petting game addition takes up a lot of memory and should not be done more than 5 times a day. They suggest resetting your system every other in-game day.

A lot of hassle if you ask me.

So yeah this seems to be a 3ds problem and I hope it has been fixed (got the 3ds the same day as this game) and have yet to connect it to the router so I don't know if there is a patch for this. I really hope there is because I traded in my dsi xl towards this. If this doesn't have a fix I am going to try to get my old system back and get a ds version of this game.

Anyways, love this site, been using it for a while yet never made an account. Will do so when I get back home. :)

(if I am missing any info related to this problem please fill me in.)
I think it has more to do with Natsume's poor porting of the game and not the problem with the 3DS itself.

Also why would you try to get your old DS back? The 3DS can play DS games, so wouldn't be a better idea to get rid of ToT 3D and just get the DS version.
Lol oh I forgot about a whole paragraph xD.

I don't play my ds anymore, that is why I gave it to my girlfriend to trade towards the 3ds... she got harvest moon TTo2T and I, as a huge harvest moon fan, got addicted to it. I really enjoyed the additions they made and I just HAD to play it. So now I am putting in more time on it and in doing so, I am getting freezes frequently. So if I want to play it I am going to need to get my hands on my old dsi.

Yeah our 3ds is only a few days old and it has been used for Harvest Moon and Harvest Moon only. I do need to connect it to see if there is a system update but I know that the 3d version of this game does have problems so I am certain it is not the system. It could just be poor memory management on the game's behalf that causes the freezes. Power off the system clears the memory which is why it usually doesn't freeze until I play it a couple hours straight. (I need to make an account here)

Mine freezes as well, on my 3DS. Only when I'm going from mountain areas. However, if you jump right as it shifts to the next screen, it seems to stop it. It hasn't ever frozen on me if I jump to the next mountain portion from the previous. It only happens if I'm walking/running (I get forgetful at times). Using your owl to get to the towns also helps a load, once it's available, and after you've done all of your foraging. I've NEVER had my owl-adventure-time freeze.

Also, it seems to happen if you play three-five days without your 3DS plugged in to the charger. I have less freezes with the charger plugged in. And, it's not that aggravating to me to play two days, go to the start page of my 3DS and start playing again. :)

But, yeah. It does irk me if it happens later in the day, game wise, and I've already gotten a good portion of my haul done.

It used to freeze on me a lot but after a while of not playing on it for hours and hours and hours I found it to not do it as much, I mostly have a problem with the 3DS version lagging after playing for a while.

Also I tend to play with the charger in while playing HM because it makes my screen brighter and it tends not to freeze as much.

I had he 3ds version and it would always freezing between screen changes and I did some research and natsume said they were investigating but the only solution they came up with so far is: to not save every night and not do the petting game, and something with the save data, but I eventually got fed up and bought the ds version and traded my 3ds version in.

I play my games a lot, after playing my 3ds version for about 9 days it froze at least a dozen times, I had heard the 3ds version had freezing problems, I took it back and got a ds version of the game. The only diff I noticed was you couldnt pet the animals. That was cute :!: but the freezing was really pissing me off. I love this game by the way.

I've been playing in game for a year and my game has yet to freeze (I have the 3DS version obviously). It gets laggy on my farm and maybe in the mountains but that's about it.

I'm glad I did my research before asking for this game for Christmas. After finding out about the freezing, despite having a 3DS, I specified that I wanted the DS version. The only problems I have with it is the incredible frustration of losing the Cooking Festival week after week after week.

If you "replay" the day (I did this due to freezing, etc) the winner is completely random! O.O I lost the first time, and won the second, purely based on the people who entered the contest which changed each time I loaded. So I'd try that. :)

I have the 3DS version, and I'm almost to year 4, it hardly ever freezes on me. The only time it ever freezes for me is after I do the Petting Game and if I'm in the mountain area after doing the game... I think I read somewhere that freezing/crashing can be prevented if you watch for certain things. One of them was the Petting Game, and I only get freezing/crashing soon after the Petting Game. So maybe that could be linking to some of your problems....

Mine has frozen twice, during the transition between areas.
I think it's the game...
