Harvest Moon on the GB

There is a cheat:

Adult Cow:
Note: Boy only
When you're ready to buy cows, make sure you have 10000 G in order to buy 2 cows. Purchase your first cow and make the first letter in it's name a symbol. Purchase a second cow and then don't start it's name using a symbol. The first cow you buy will automatically be an adult and able to produce Medium Milk on it's first day on your farm. Buying 1 cow and using a symbol at the beginning of it's name will only get you a Medium Cow. Likewise buying 2 cows and using a symbol on each name won't get you 2 adult cows but 2 Medium Cows. Only when the first one starts with a symbol and the second one doesn't will this trick work.

I am playing a girl and I named my second cow "Toby" and it was an adult cow producing medium milk. :D

EDIT: Also was able to do it again with my 4th cow! :D I wanted to name her Ethel but it's too long so I name her Utle (Cause it sounds like it) and she was an adult cow with medium milk!!!!!

Also to add some more info:

I bought my first medium cow on the 17th of summer. (feed, brushed, and talked to everyday and walked it every day that was good out) and it did not grow up until fall 06th so it took around 19days or maybe 18 to grow up. Which made me think it never would. Though it grew up and is producing large milk.

Found more information!

A cut scene happened on the 25th of fall when apparently the harvest festival was happening and Ellen gave me a cake.

When I got my sickle upgraded the spirte told me it would be ready the next morning and it was. Instead of cutting a 1X1 square it's now a 3X3. Same thing with the hoe. So the waiting real hours is only in the GBC version.

Another note the TIMER function is only in the GBC version.

No it's not.
I have the GB Harvest Moon and it has the Timer function.

When you press the Select button it pops up: Horse, Pet, Memo. Nothing else. I don't know how your game can have it but not mine. When you play the GBC version the timer is immediately there one that menu. I played the whole year with no timer button. Nor do the sprites ever ask you to use it.

Perhaps it's your version that's skewed if you don't have it.

I just checked multiple places that say the GB doesn't have the function.

EDIT: Also many people confuse the two games. The GB is a gray game and the GBC is a black game.

EDIT 2: Many people also play Harvest Moon GB on an emulator which does have the timer function.

Well, the site here says the GB version has the Timer function, I'm sitting here holding a SP playing the game that has the function, so I'm inclined to believe it does.
But whatever floats your boat, petal.

This site also says you have to wait 12 real hours or 24 real hours to get the hoe or the sickle but that doesn't happen in the GB version. Also every single picture on this site is from the GBC version! I would really like you to see a picture of your game with the timer function there.

I took a picture of my HM GB in my gameboy color with no timer function.

If you insist.
Spoiler:

You may or may not be able to see the GB on the sticker, but there is also the Nintendo Gameboy on the plastic part.

A closeup of the Timer function.

Just to show I haven't taken the photo on an emulator or anything.

And finally...
To prove this isn't the GBC version, here is a picture of the game playing on an oldschool Gameboy Pocket, which is unable to play GBC games.

I noticed this you are playing the PAL version. That is actually the GBC version in America. It is in color and the cartridge is in black. So I'm sorry but that is the GBC version. Thank you for showing me the pictures.

To add a bit more info. Yes it does say GB and gameboy on the plastic (my GBC games all say gameboy too there is nothing for color) but the fact that it is in color and the graphics are that way says that it is the GBC version.

ALSO I put my GBC game in my original gameboy and it played just fine. So that fact that it can't play GBC games is not true.

EDIT: Also what bothers me is that is it a black cartridge. The black cartridge didn't start until the Gameboy color. All of the original gameboy games are in a gray cartridge with the exception of pokemon and a few other games. The "gameboy" on the cartridge didn't say gameboy color until after the black (or different colors for pokemon [both HM GBC & HM 2 GBC are black]). The game boy color logo at the top started with the clear cartridges. (or HM 3 GBC, Legend of Zelda, etc) Since you have the PAL version, you don't actually have the HM GB game. And since the graphics (which did change between games not just the color part) are all the same as the HM GBC I have to believe that when they came out with the GBC PAL version they just called it GB. There is no PAL GBC version. (so far to my knowledge) Due to all of these things being exactly like the HM GBC I have to conclude that Harvest Moon GB the PAL version = Harvest Moon GBC US version.
