Possible error about trees for ToTT

The guide says that trees can't start producing in the middle of the season, and gives dates when trees have to be planted to bear fruit that year.
I think it is possible that this information is not correct. Here is what my experience has been.
On the 1st of Summer of Y3, I got the fourth field expansion in Konohana. That expansion contains the places where I planted my apple and grape trees. I don't remember exactly, but it was probably on the second or third of Summer that I planted them.
It is now the 22nd of Fall in Y3. I have had at least five apple harvests, and today I got my first grape harvest.
So, I think the statement on http://fogu.com/hm10/your_farms/trees.php that "Trees will not start producing mid-season" is not correct (or I wouldn't have just had my first grape harvest). Also, it says that to produce fruit in the same year, apple trees must be planted on Spring 27 and grape trees must be planted on Spring 14. I can't have done that because the spaces weren't cleared then.
I have the US version of ToTT for the DS. I've never used any kind of cheats.
