The only game I've replayed more than twice is Katamari Damacy and We Love Katamari. That game is beyond addictive and every single time I play it's a new experience. It's ridiculous.

Hmmm. The only one I can think of off the top of my head is Pokémon Platinum.
OK, not really, I only defeated the Champion recently.

Just finished playing the girl version of Persona 3 Portable for the first time. I think I prefer it to playing as a boy Shinjiro's my favorite character, so my reasoning should be obvious -sigh-, but the ending still feels so.... ;_; Damnit I keep imagining a headcanon epilogue because it ends too quick and I wanted a few more scenes with the characters.

Also Nyx Avatar's « Mr.Gourmet's hat » got kicked by a cute lil' dog. That's so great.

Lady Nina wrote:oh, i replay games a -lot-. i pretty much replayed RH as soon as i finished it! and who knows how many times i've play chrono trigger or legend of mana.

i just try to hold off on the ending. and don't replay it if i didn't like it as much. and try to get 100% completion, but only if i think the game is good enough for it to be worth it (in a game like avalon code, where 100% is more annoying than fun, i'll skip it, but in a game like LoM where i want to explore everywhere and get every event, i'll do it, for sure).
What is Chrono Trigger and Legend of mana like? i want tyo buy them but they look easy to complete :?:

Well, I've finished the main storyline of Explores of Sky, if that counts? But I haven't graduated from the guild yet or anything, and I still have tons to do. I like completing a game by 100% if possible.

Last game was Eternal Sonata, I do believe. I recently got through half of another play-through of Alice: Madness Returns, but I don't think I'll beat it again anytime soon.

Oooh how was Eternal Sonata? My brother got it and I've been eyeing it from afar. I'd really like to play it! :)

Currently plugging away at RFF. I'm closer to getting a high enough forge level to forge the weapon I need for the final boss... and everyone's FP/LP is mid-way up now (avg LP for all girls is 5), so I've started getting other events. There's a LOT to do in this game and sometimes it's really, really overwhelming. Also goddammit Runeys STOP DYING D: D: D: Although I do have 2 areas in prosperity! :lala:

Otherwise playing Sims 3 off and on and considering either finishing Avalon Code or diving into RH again. Probably RH. Oh! I forgot I have Golden Sun too! And and and P3 I still need to play! Also on my list are HM AP and MM; I really miss those games... WHY DO I HAVE SO MANY GAMES I WANT TO PLAY?!

i've been wanting eternal sonata for a while now, and now that we have a PS3 in the house and i have a job, i might get it. what? i don't want to play a game entirely because i want to cosplay from it or anything! why would you think that?! ...actually, it looks like a really cool game, in addition to the awesome character designs

rach, go play RH! >:D seriously, it picks up. you'll get sucked in. you'll be amazed.

charley> ah~ chrono trigger and legend of mana. my two fave games of all time.

CT is an old-school JRPG, originally on the SNES (but has since been ported to the PSX and DS). it is turn-based, but don't let that phase you, since the gameplay and story are so good that you won't even notice. (thankfully, you can see the vast majority of enemies on the map, so it doesn't have random encounters! there are a few times where an enemy appears out of a pipe or something, but mostly, no random encounters, thank « Harvest Goddess »!) it is about a boy, living in 1000AD, who has to time travel to the past and future in order to save the world, encountering friends along the way. it has some very touching moments, it has some philosophical moments, it has some biblical references... the story and characters are really good overall.

it also had a new game+ feature and a bazillion different endings, so the replay value is quite high. it is also widely considered to be one of the best RPGs, if not games, ever made, so if you like RPGs at all, you have to play this. it's a super classic.

LoM is... different. there's something so beautiful about it that it wil melt your heart and you will fall in love. it's one of those rare few games that seems to have a soul of its own sometime.

you may be confused at first, but don't let that get to you. the game has high replayability, since the story is non-linear and depends on you seeking out different quests in order to complete the story. there are three main storylines and a big handful of sub-plots, along with other random events not part of a bigger arc but that still fit in. everything interconnects, and you'll come to see how by the end of the game. the stories may be difficult to follow, and the way the game is set up may be hard to figure out at first, but it is worth it, since each of the three storylines has a lot of depth and really interesting characters. on ushi, we have 10+ page threads discussing and debating this game every 6 months or year, so this is really a game that sticks with you! every time you play it, you will probably see entirely new events and see a lot of new facets to the storylines you have already completed. it's one of those games that only gets better each time you play it.

in typical mana-game fashion, it is not turn-based! yay! you instead choose from i think 12 classes of weapons and whack the enemies over the heads with them. you can also raise pets, create golems to help you in battle, create your own magic, and forge your own weapons, armor, and items, which can get quite complicated quite fast. the battles aren't too difficult until you beat the game and change your difficulty mode, but they may take a bit of geting used to. each class of weapon has specific properties that also affects your leveling, so choose carefully! (though, you can always switch between them, like i do...) there are also tons of NPCs you can pick up to join you on your adventure.

if nothing else, it has highly detailed sprites in 2.5D, gorgeously watercoloured backgrounds, and my personal favourite video game soundtrack ever. (and yoko shimomura's personal fave of her own work!!)

it's sometimes serious, sometimes sad, sometimes contemplative, sometimes philosophical, sometimes joyful, sometimes hopeful, sometimes nostalgic, often all of these, and always amazing. it's not a game for everyone, but if you like non-linear RPGs with decent customization, amazingly detailed worlds and characters (to the point where you, as the main character, don't even know the full story, and it leaves plenty of room for speculation and debate while still wrapping things up nicely), yoko shimomura music, and games that are more a full, immersive expereince than just a game, you'll love it. it has quite a few flaws, so depending on how you take the rest of the game, the flaws can either make you hate it or just add another layer to the rich complexity of this game.

if you have a PSN-equipped device, i highly recommend it. (or of you can track down the original PSX disc, but that's difficult and expensive!)

LoM fans, was that a satisfactorily lavish response? lol

It could be because I'm the type of person who will sit there for hours reading text but, LoM also has an enriching background to read into. The Lore will only enhance your ability to enjoy the game but it will not harm your ability to enjoy it either. And it's also the kind of game you can sit back and play with a friend and even have their character join along. Though my sister doesn't like my character coming along since I crafted a weapon that destroys everything. Only a matter of time until I make myself some nice armor, then nothing can kill me.

LoM's that kind of game with a great amount of depth to it that you can get into at your own pace instead of it becoming overwhelming. If you want to just go bare minimum and play through, yay you can. If you want to craft a really amazing weapon it will take dedication, research, and time. But in the end it's worth it. If you want to get to understand the world, it's creation, and the lore behind it there's a library where you can get books yay! Golem's which can be crafted and carefully can be maximized into your own customized fighting machine. Or you can breed different pets and increase certain stats with certain fruits and you can get better fruits if you better understand how that works. Then there's the whole levels of mana in the worlds which can affect it all. There's a TON of depth into that game that it'll blow your mind trying to understand from the start. That's not even taking into the account the beautiful art and music which is still great to this day and wonderful characters and story lines that aren't just LOL SAVE THE WORLD or LOL RANDOM SIDE QUEST THAT HAS NO REAL SIGNIFICANCE BUT IT'S SOMETHING YOU CAN DO ON THE SIDE.

But yeah completing Legend of Mana? Lol, um I don't know how you complete that. Create the best equipment, golem, breed the master pet, maximize mana in all lands, get all cactus entries, and so on? Or just beating the game? The former will take you a lot of time and dedication, the second will take you a good length still but not longer than your average RPG. Every play-through is different however.

i'm not as into all the forging and golem creation thing... i do raise pets (i love my pet succubus!) and grow fruit, but that's about it for me for those features.

it's great because you aren't forced to do features you don't like <3 you can pick and choose. you can even pick and choose entire story arcs!

i consider "completeting" the game beating it with 100% of the events, which i've done numerous times. i've beaten it without getting all of the events about twice as many times as that, though. haha, i'm so obsessed with that game.

i'm considering getting into forging, though. once i learn all the STs for all the weapons (i'm over halfway there, i think! i keep a checklist...), i think i'm going to make a super awesome 2H axe and put it on no future mode (typically play on nightmare mode). i might make some awesome armor, too.

Eternal Sonata was pretty good. Great graphics, music, battle system.. very interesting characters. The plot starts off pretty interesting too, but don't pay too much attention to it... it flies out the window after a few hours of gameplay. XD But I really enjoyed it! It's a cutesy JRPG.

Atelier Iris: Eternal Mana, Sims Medieval with expansion, Atelier Annie and Advance Wars Dual Strike. No really. That was last month games. Although there's not many games that I'm interested in my platform at the moment due to limited interest in the first quarter releases so far.

Had a look at Eternal Sonata, looks pretty cute and animated, kind of reminds me of Atelier Series except its on Xbox 360 and Playstation 3. I better get going for now.

rachellion wrote:Persona 4! :) That game consumed my soul for like 3 months. Still chugging away on a few other games, but most of the games I play are pretty open ended, so "finished" is a loose term :/

Currently watching the anime and laughing at their interpretation of the derp moments in the game. Omg awesome.
Oh I beat that game too. Did you get the true ending? It's the ending where you find out who the killer is AND who gives the power of Persona to people in town.

The last game I beat was Yakuza 3 on PS3. Right now I'm trying to beat ToTT and Mario Kart 7 on 150cc. on 3DS.

Didn't get around to actually getting the true ending (New Game + is geared up tho!) since I got distracted with other games, but I have watched youtube videos and know what happens. Makes more sense than the normal ending, which is nice
