It is strictly an advertisement for the game so far, nothing more. Also yeah, that's Elesa.

Apparently Game Freak has no control over the anime (Ash's) so that makes its existence all the more annoying lol Anyways

N: Your path to capturing Pokemon… what will it be?

Rival: Finally! Let’s go get our Pokemon!
Rival: You’re…
Bianca: Ah, I’m glad you made it! Tah-dah, in this tube are the Pokemon that will become your partners!

Akuroma: Team Plasma said… “We should seek the potential of Pokemon and free them from people.” I don’t believe that.

Elesa: Welcome to the stage! My pokemon and yours… I wonder which will shine brighter? Let’s decide it here and now!

Team Plasma: Hahahaha… I congratulate you on getting this far. But since we’re here, I don’t think we need your company.
Rival: All right, now I’m really getting mad.
Cheren: Tch, these guys are real troublemakers.
Rival: Lend me your strength as well so we can finish this quickly.
Plasma: Seviper, bite!
Player: Arcanine, use bite too!
Rival: Samurott, Ice Beam!

Player: Hold it!
Player: Lucario, Aura Sphere!
Shadow Triad: How will you achieve your goal…?

Was gamefreak ever involved with the anime? I have no idea and I'm at school so

Back during the earlier seasons, it was really formulaic but at least they did new stuff. Now the formula is old; Ash goes to a new region, Ash gets new pokemon and clothes and companions, Pikachu is somehow not at level 700, etc. Additionally, to me at least, rewatching the episodes I used to love as a kid... Sadly, I don't really enjoy them anymore, so it's not just me going "OLD POKEMON RULEEEEEZZZZ DEATH TO THE NEW STUFF".

Or it might just be me growing up, haha. I did re-read Pokespe [as subjectively as I could, I tried to ignore nostalgia in deciding if it was good or not lol] a few months ago and I really enjoyed it as its own manga.

When it comes to Pokespe, Game Freak was involved with that from the get go. (Hence things like natures and characters popping up earlier than they should, etc happened.) and the creators themselves was like "this is how pokemon really should be, all pokemon fans should read it!"

So Gamefreak has a different view on pokemon than the main animators do.

Some say the anime got worse in Best Wishes...but maybe my opinions have been bent by the debates over at Bulbagarden Forums, who knows.
Like that trailer/anime thing. I haven't actually watched a video with the new homecity in it, so...

BW ruined Jessie and James by rebooting their personalities and keeping them flat on purpose to retain a ~villain~ air. This was especially irritating because they still always lose, but instead of blasting off they just flee like ninjas. Also, they were the most consistent thing about the anime--they had pasts, their past episodes were continuously referenced (like James' bottle caps and how and where he got them, unlike Ash and his hat), they gone through a lot and felt more human than any other character and they ruined it.

Of course Cilan remedies it by quite a bit and actually kicks Trip in the face regularly, it's just... we know he'll get booted off in time as well. The anime never keeps good things.

Even though Pokemon Black/White 2 are for the DS,There is a game that will be available for download in the 3DS shop next month in Japan and in Fall in the US called Pokemon AR Searcher(Pokemon Dream Radar in US).You can send Pokemon you capture to Black/White 2,including the sacred beast forms of Tornadus,Thundrous, and Landorus which according to official sources are not obtainable in the games.
There will also be an upgrade to Pokedex 3D next month in Japan and Fall in the US,but it is a $$ game since the upgrade already has the data for all 649 Pokemon.

Well, what I like about the anime advertisement/clip most is the animation with it. It looks more serious, detailed, darker, and I think just more fluid. The anime tends to be a bit more flat with just a bunch of bright colors, and some serious distortion in the art at times. But, this was also a shorter clip versus a long term series. The movies tend to be more of quality at times, which is nice.

Anyway, as for the whole debate over the anime and stuff...I think the current anime does need some major improvement on quality and plot, but it does have it's quirks. It can be charming sometimes. Something more serious would be nice as well. Ah, well. I don't really care much for either way.

Anywho, I'm pretty sure that's Elesa. She had her Pokemon there and all that. She just dyed her hair black or let it turn black (whichever was her original color). Can't tell if she is in charge of a gym or not.

But, it seems Akuma will be our antagonist, now. Curious to where he came from and whether his intentions were as good and as honest as N's, or they were like Ghetsis. And since N doesn't seem to be the antagonist this time around, I'm curious to see what he is up to.

Elesa is a model, models change their appearances all the time, she also has the red+blue quirk still present, and that Zebra is her main pokemon soooo

This. So much. Why can't there be a separate pokemon anime? D; I mean, I really do think that if they could develop a separate pokemon anime, it would be really popular. Think of all the plot ideas that could play out.

I mean, think about it. Pokemon has been around for over ten years. You can't target an audience of solely children forever. What about your older fans? Nobody is happy go lucky sunshine all the time like Ash is.

It's a long shot, though.

I love Pokespe (obviously, since my icon + signature right now have Pokespe characters on them) and a lot of people believe that Pokespe should be turned into an anime- whether it be a new pokemon anime alongside the one we currently have or an anime to replace the one we currently have.

Anyways, I also wish that the FMC was in the video! I really like her :) .

Also I'm digging Elesa's new design.

I wonder if at some point you meet a protagonist from black and white? cos Silver and gold had it at the end where you could battle Red :D

on the anime front I agree, the whole "Its all about Ash whose trying to be a pokemon master but he hardly ever catches a damn thing, gets badges, meets some friends, foils Team Rocket, goes to pokemon league but never places 1st..."

it's so stale D: and I was watching this back when I was near 10, ash has to be in his late 20s now (and he still hangs around with child/preteen trainers) and I am surprised Pikachu's back hasn't given out yet xD

the shows need to be more like Yu-Gi-Oh; change the protagonist and plot! the animes would have been better if back in gen 3 we followed May as she wanted to be a co-ordinator, and in 4th gen the protagonists stopping team galatic and such

The problem with the anime is that it's got absolutely no value for anyone who doesn't play pokemon, and anyone older who does play pokemon will really dislike it.

Now, His Dark Materials trilogy is a good comparison to the anime. It's a fictional series tailored so that children can enjoy it [both have cute animals and a plucky protag!], but there's lots of really, really dark stuff there as throwaways [chandelure, aka a very cute pokemon? It's staying on fire by feeding on souls of other pokemon and burning them as fuel. The HDM trilogy involves basically euthanizing « Harvest Goddess », as he's basically a figurehead whose powers have fallen to a corrupt bureaucracy of angels.] Obviously, the book is a darker thing then the video game, but they're easily comparable, and if the book series had been made in Japan, I wouldn't be surprised if it was pokemon-esque or at the very least incredibly megaten-like. However, the Golden Compass movie was... panned by both fans and critics. If you weren't a reader, you were all "« What The Eggplant » is even going on I'm bored why did I pay for this", but if you were a reader [like me and my entire family were], you were left feeling sort of... mildly upset. I remember being around 12 and going to see the movie. I had just finished the whole series on tape with my dad and brother, and I had loved it. I remember this weird unhappiness in my chest after the movie. They neutered a lot of stuff because of complaints from certain groups- probably the same groups that protested pokemon ten years ago, in fact!- and it was panned by everyone.

amusingly, both received stamps of "satanism!!!" from a rabid and overreported minority

Also, there's the Avatar movie. If you're a fan of the series i watched it all like 3 times from start to finish with my dad and brother, starting to wonder if my dad and brother are like cursed or you were there on the internet for the ensuing shitstorm of hate from fans and critics, I don't need to explain this.

Contrast the Harry Potter movies. While the first two movies are... my least favorite movies in the series, it remains a loved series by both fans and non-fans, children and people like me who grew up on the series. That's how they should do the anime. Not a movie, but keeping the same approach the movies did. Omit some things to streamline it, as normal people who have no idea what is going on will be watching it and making each episode a 30 minute geek attack is ill-advised, but keep in mind the actual fans.

Imagine if instead of following the series, the HP movies had made each movie basically Draco and Snape dressing in crazy outfits and trying to steal Harry's wand because it's valuable or some « Cow Poopoo » and Harry is all "/SPELL" and Draco and Snape fly away. And Hermoine and Ron are replaced every movie with someone... NEW AND EXCITING. Meanwhile, the fans are all "what the fuq, there's new books why are two only mildly threatening guys still the main villains and why is Harry still 11 he should be like 17 now"

and oh « Harvest Goddess » i just wrote a multi-paragraph essay on the pokemon cartoon

Most of my examples are Western movies and aimed at slightly older audiences, but you get the point. tl;dr, the anime needs to be enjoyable to both fans and non-fans, otherwise no one is happy

my main problem is them omitting team plasma entirely, who had easily the best "story"

True, It's just odd for Japan since they find blond hair so interesting. But the pokemon really isn't a good indicator because there are only so many electric types in the game(although with this one letting you get older pkmn it's a bit different now) so she has a rather limited choice of what she can use as an electric gym. If it isn't her, it wouldn't seem odd to me for her to have similar pokemon because of the limits of that type. But, that along with the close appearance makes it seem like it is still her. And I guess as a model you have to keep things fresh and new. And if she's not in charge of a gym, she's definitely in charge of something.

That'll be awesome. I can totally see him being like, the top scientist (or just one of, but stronger/smarter than the others) that used to work for Team Plasma and after you beat them, there were places off the beaten path that you could find scientists who were still working. (or had sorta lost their minds) I could TOTALLY see say, of all the scientists who weren't at the castle and didn't get caught lost their minds without Ghetsis but him. I can see Akuma being able to actually keep going, rise to a sort of secret power over the last two years, and is now trying to take over. I've heard stories/theories and read FFs on the idea that because Ghetsis didn't get ether dragon that he'd go after Kyurem and try to take both you and N down. I could see Akuma trying to do the same. If the other two are gone, go for the last one. Man this is like a smart Wheatly trying to take over Aperture X3

I'm currently planning to write my version of BW2, with new characters and all the added ones here and Hilda and Hilbert as central characters and what not.
I'm making Akuroma a villain...until the last second. Then two other people become evil.
It gets even more complicated. :P
And I really liked that trailer clip. It gave me ideas and inspiration~
