Adding a poison mushroom will cause you to lose 300FP with everyone there. So reset your file and just put something else in. If you don't have anything else don't contribute anything. That is better than adding a poison mushroom.

If you don't save your game you should be able to reload to before the harvest festival and change the ingredient you are using.
As long as you didn't save after the festival it should be ok. If you did save can you continue playing? Usually the credits come up after certain events and you can play after they are done.

Eating at the Harvest Festival
On this day, the villagers will gather on Meadow Island to have a giant stew. Everyone brings an ingredient, and together they all make a tasty meal. You are invited of course, so bring an edible item for the dish.
You can bring anything that can be eaten, including the wild herbs that grow around if you don't have any crops to bring. Go to the Meadow between 10:00 am and 6:00 pm to hand Felicia your contribution. If you bring her an A-rank or S-rank item, the resulting meal will earn you +1000 fp with all of the people in attendance, plus your Stamina and Fullness will be refilled. If you don't have a good ranking item, then just your Sta/Ful is recovered and you don't earn the +1000 fp.
The only item that you don't want to submit is a Poisonous Mushroom. The poison fungus is worth -300 fp for everyone if you add it to the cooking pot.
Attendees: Charlie, Chelsea, Eliza, Elliot, Felicia, Julia, Lily, Mark, Mirabelle, Natalie, Pierre, Regis, Shea, and Taro.

I knew you lost friendship points with everyone in attendance but thank you for printing the number of points.
I just looked at the Harvest Festival for Island of Happiness and you lose 1,000 points for everyone in attendance. I wonder if the author was playing that game and if you lose all the points with your villagers you get the credits. Can anyone answer that?

No offense original poster but this is starting to seem more about the credits and getting a reaction from that than an actual problem. Even if the credits came up you can still just reload your file no big deal. It won't make a difference. So I don't know why you are pointing it out again :/.

I don't know about that. There is a reason for when the credits come up. The poison mushroom (in DS at least) gets a game over as a joke because you died from eating it. What would be the reason for getting credits if you were no longer friends with people? That doesn't seem like a fair reason to get a game over.

This is pretty pointless, but here's one of my favorite stupid quotes:
Anyway, going on the quote, we all know of tons of HM glitches. The imfamous DS/Cute glitches, the mushroom glitch(DS/Cute), heck, even the stack glitch right here in SI. It's going to have glitches because no gaming is perfect.
Some clues it was a glitch:
-Your save file is gone
-When you put the mushroom in, everything slowed down and sometimes froze.
-the credits froze at some points
-(I have never seen a HM credit roll, so this one may not apply) IF there's an "ok" or a "yes" or "no" that you press once the credits have gone through, it may not have let you or may have taken a long time to load.
I hope this helps, even to rule out possibilities. Once again, I have never actually seen the credit roll, so I'm not sure what happens afterwards.

I don't know about any other players but I usually get a glitch after the credits which appear after my wedding day.
When I go to the animals the next morning, the game will freeze will freeze if I encounter the petting game with one of the animals. After the second time I learned to save after I greet my new husband in the morning and avoid the petting game.
