If you miss a heart event because the character has gone onto the next colour heart can you still get married to them? Or do you have to go back to the other heart colours?

Yes, you can still get married without lowering the heart color.
For example: if you still have to view someone's blue heart event, but just got that person to a green heart color, viewing the blue heart event is no problem, because the requirements for that heart event are to have the person at a blue heart or above. ^^

You need to be at the proper number of points before you can view the heart events. You will view the heart events even if you have more points than you need for that event.

Be in the right place during the time span mentioned on the index page and the event will automatically trigger.

You need to see all the events before the marriage candidate will accept the blue feather from you. They will trigger in order of color (Purple, Blue, Green, Yellow and Orange).
