Actually I do like it better without rivals on the portable games. They're giving up on those to add a lot more of options, so I think it is a good thing. I'd rather be able to make my own farmer than having rivals, just to mention an example.

I miss having rivals, but not in this game. Nobody seems to be able to be paired up with anyone else without it feeling awkward and forced.

There are no rivals in ANB, sorry, Sorry1 ( started writing this before learning you name was Sorry1).
I know there aren't...? I was saying that the game better be able to make up for the fact that there isn't a rival system.

...are the rivals really that important that a lack of a system requires the game to be damn fabulous to make up for it? :3

from what i've heard, the game is awesome. so i think you're good~

and seriously the rival couples are so awkward in 99% of the cases i actually feel bad when i trigger events for ann/cliff and kai/popuri while i play MFoMT (the game i'm currently playing so that's why i brought that one up in particular) because they don't go well together

YES! Honestly, it just added so much realism and much more surprise especially when it came to triggering rival events! Also, it just feels weird being the only one getting married and makes it even weirder that the other bachelor's/bachelorette's never get married!

But as long as the game is great then I guess its all good...

Sorry, well... Yes i liked the realism, but also, it is weird that i am the only one who gets married. Hopefully, Natsume will see that WANT A RIVAL SYSTEM THAT MAKES SENSE! The couples need to at least make some sense, not like "oh they both have something in common" but like someone was attention deprived as a kid, and so crave it, and someone was an only child, and want to give lots of attention to others, that would be a realistic couple, or anyway, something like that... though i feel that to make enough couples, you would need to make HM a little bit darker... like someone's parents died and so they want someone to love and to love them to fill the void... :bunny:

I'm on the fence on whether I miss rivals or not.

I do like them for when after I'm married and you can see everybody else living happily in marriage like you~
...except for that one who's spouse you stole.

But I also won't miss rivals because I can take my time wooing the spouse without somebody else grabbing them first >:3

well, in SI it took a good 4 years before they got up the courage, plus, I think you HAD to view their event before they tied the knot, so that is pretty long, especially if friendship raises quickly.

And with the addition of the dating system I think it would be a lot easier to keep rivals from snatching your wo/man.
I don't think any of the rivals would be « Baaaa *glomp* » enough to try and steal away your girlfriend/boyfriend.

Ah, that's true, I forgot about the dating system ^^
I still don't understand how it works, completely.

i will try my best: here goes:
so you give the bachelor/ette gifts or just talk to them, at this point your just friends, and when your just friends you see their black, and purple, and also blue heart events, then you buy i ring and give it to them, and then your dating, so as you're now a couple, you now can see the green, yellow, and red heart events, after the red heart event you can propose with the blue feather, and ding~dong your married. But the special thing about the dating system you can "dump" your girl/boyfriend, and start to date a new one! but the other will not like you anymore, and if you wanna re-date them again, you have to go all the way back up to where you left off with out heart events.

Did that make sense? did that clarify it, or confuse you?

So you can't date more than one person at a time, makes sense.
But if you dump them, does their friendship drop to the... green heart event level or something?

probably less, but like, how would you like to be dumped, when you love the other person, i suppose it does't matter if you haven't given them the ring... ask someone else, i don't know the answer...

Oh dang ._.

I guess if you really want to see all the heart events, I guess that you just date everybody else first and then brutally dump them all for the one you'll end up with xD
