If saving is anything like it was in DS/Cute, then I hope I don't overwrite one of my save files with the other file...I accidentally did that once :( Although, I did like it better in Rune Factory: ToD where you had 15 save slots, was it?

On the topic, I kind of liked the rivals in AP and ToT, if you wanted them to get married you had to become their friend first, like you had to work for the wedding between the two.

After reading all of the posts, I have a proposition. Why could they not incorporate a new kind of rival system? One where not all the bachelor/ettes get together, but some of them do. That way they can better avoid awkward coupling mistakes (because they wouldn't have to bunch the "leftovers" together) and also make it feel less lonely than when you're the only one who got married in town (two other married couples, for instance, would be cool to me). Then there could be sweet couples that make everyone « Apple Pie »'aww and no weird ones, plus there wouldn't be that one girl/boy that walks around all by their lonesome because you ripped their love interest from their grubby paws.

And there could still be the dating system so if you were going for someone in a rival couple, your enemy couldn't steal your boy/girlfriend! I know this was already mentioned, just re-throwing it out there (the dating=no stolen love thing).

That's, uh, my thoughts on the topic.

Maybe in the "upgrade" they will have some kind of rival system (wouldn't bet on it though!). But I feel like adding rival events to this batch might end up compromising the characters unless they had good writers working on them.

Still... if I think about it... the only pairings I can see would be something like
Sanjay/Yuri, I can see it but maybe wouldn't be exciting
Allen/Michelle would be hilarious (but seems more like a couple that would break up than marry each other)
erm... i dunno.

It would be interesting to have fanfic/one-shot challenges to make up various rival pairings, try hardest as you can to make them work without breaking character. It would be difficult though.

I don't think there are rivals for this one, right?

Either way, i can't see anyone really hooking up in ANB. But I think it'd be pretty cool to have them date and break up.

i mean, think about it. There could be little events (not full on cutscenes, just questions, like in RF) and depending on your answer, it could influence them to maybe hook up with another character (froma choice of maybe one or two) and then you'd have to try and win them back! :D

No?
Just me?
Okay...

That's a nice idea, and at least you would have a little competition... It is kinda boring to have someone love you and only you... at least until you marry them. :bunny:

It'll be nice to have rivals, especially rival children....

WRONG :!: :!: :!:
Allen & Yuri
Sanjay(Celka) & Felicity(Felicia)
Soseki(Sengoku) & Tina
But You're kinda right, after those, they would just feel forced, but and I wish
Rod & Neil
though it'd never happen, though with all the dialogue i've read, it seems like Rod is the only one who understands Neil, but I have also never played the game, so...
Yaoi? Oh my, oh yes *-*

Rival Children would be awesome :DD oh how I loved the AP rival children system :D
I think Neil would be too quiet and shy to be a player :shifty:
Unless.....

Neil wouldn't be a player, not at all... Allen on the other hand would seem to me the person in this game most likely to be a player, and he would be such a good player, none of his other girlfriends would know about each other!

Yeah that seems likely, but he would probably try to push them all away... Maybe he would scream at them or something?

if they did have rivals and rival children seeing as if your child grows to be a teenager I wonder if the children would date
although that could still end bad if not worse then some rival pairings.

Too bad that Marvelous has given up with the rival couples. I always liked them in the older games. Watching their lives was fun to do. I think that all bachelors and bachelorettes should have a chance for marrying someone special. Having the rival children would be fun as well. I liked the system from AP and RF2, where every kid was different, they had their own personalities and interests. Some of them had a crush on your kid as well (RF2). I'm really not sure why Marvelous doesn't like it anymore. Maybe they don't want the bachelor/ettes to be hated by fans? I remember that Mary and Sabrina were really disliked by some, because they had been paired with Gray/Vaughn.

I hope Marvelous didn't totally given up on the rivals. It would be more interesting to see them paired up and have their own happy endings (and some more events to look forward after you all get married). And I also like the challenge to "fight" for your love. XD

Some people really taking these things too seriously that they even get jealous of 2D characters. They really need to get a life.

 Yes, definition of!

I agree it was always more of a triumph when you got a lady over your rival, but I liked how in RF2, even if you married someone with a rival, they still got married to Yuki, the merchant!

Yes I think it would be awesome for rivals to have children ;n;

And I also like the idea of having one "extra" bachelor. Like all the bachelorettes each have a bachelor, but if you take one, they could take the "extra" guy ^^
That way, there won't be a girl who's always forever alone xD
Poor Elli in MFoMT XD
