i like using japanese names to come up with....
But those never fit the six character limit...so yeah.

Luckily I have never had trouble with this.

3 letter name~

I only had trouble with animal names, no more Rapidash, Purrloin and Shaymin.

Yes. It just doesn't make sense to me that there's a 6 character limit on all the names you choose, yet quite a few of the characters in the game have names longer than 6 letters: Natalie, Felicia, Mirabelle, Goddess, Witchkins, Chelsea, Sabrina... If they can make those characters names more than 6 letters, why can't they give the player the option to use more than 6 letters?

I also found that the same was true of the animals in the Festivals. Your rivals can name their animals things like 'Pudding' and 'Mercury', but you're restricted to 6 letters. I really wish we still had the 12 character option from (M)FoMT. My first dog was called Li'l Brother (after the dog in Mulan), and I wish I could still use it for my dogs in other games. Similarly, I'd love to call my Farm 'Blue Moon' farm or 'Foxglove' farm, but with only 6 letters I'm stuck with 'Maple' farm or 'Sunset' farm, which just don't feel as original. You can't even fit 'Harvest' Farm into that.

Which is why it's very disappointing that we're going to be stuck with the 6 letter limit in the next HM game...

It is frustrating that other characters in the game can their name be more than 6 letters.

I'm disappointed they haven't increased the name character limit. I liked using my name in these games, because it felt kind of personal. It felt like the characters in game were talking to me. Now I have to keep making something up.

Well the thing is in Japanese characters names are usually shorter.

For example... Hideyoshi [idk random name] is 9 English characters. In Japanese, it's ひでよし - four, less than half- or 秀吉 - a whopping two characters.

It's still dumb that the name limit is so short. D; My name, Elizabeth, never fits in ANY things. i usually use ellie but u g h

I can't believe I thought my name went past the limit of six characters for a while there. Yep, Kassia fits and I cannot count apparently.

Anyway, why does everyone complain? My real name is 7 letters, it Matthew btw, but I guess I don't understand cause I can use Mathew...

My name is also Elizabeth, but I'm known by my family and friends as Beth, so I normally go with that. Alternatively, you could use Liz, Lizzie, Lizzy, Eliza, Lisa, Liza, Betty, Bessy, Bess etc. In fact, I don't know of any other name that has so many nicknames ^^

Same goes for you Matthew. You could always use Matt or Matty if you want.

But I do understand that, if you're normally called Elizabeth or Matthew by people, you'd prefer to use your full name rather than a nickname.

My name is six letters exactly!
And my name I like is six.
And my nick name is five.

It's kind of unfair and ironic that game npcs have names longer than six but you can't!

Not that I have an issue though

I just use my pen name: Aero, or the female's default name. I feel weird when game characters call me by my name ._." Though I could use it, as it's exactly six letters~

Not as much variety as Elizabeth though X)
But yeah, if people like using their real names they should be able to, so it should be raised to 10 characters... Oh well, we don't have that kind of power...
