How do I give Kirk a gift?

So, in the gift guides it says that Kirk likes chocolate, but when I try giving it to him, he says "No thanks." I've tried some of the other gifts, too, but I get the same response for all of them.

As with all the other villagers, you have to talk to Kirk for five days in a row before he'll accept any gifts.

Taking his boat regularly doesn't count as speaking to him as well.

Either stand in a place on the dock where he won't ask you where you want to go, or stand on the shore between Slater's house and the water next to the boat.

By the way, you might want to give him small fish. Chocolate is 100G per day and you get the small fish by fishing.

Or weeds. Unless I'm much mistaken and got confused with another HM game, he likes weeds.

I thought Mark was the only one who likes weeds but the index page says that a weed, a stone, and my small fish are all 500 point gifts. Kudos Melian, no one has posted that before.

The good thing is they are all cheaper than the chocolate you want to give him. So speak to him and give him five gifts to get his personal sunstone.

You will get his other sunstones by riding on the boat to different islands.
