Rival Couples (A Match Not Made In Heaven)

Ok, so I finally got all the other couples married, and I noticed something.... some of them don't really seem happy.

For example;

All Lanna and Denny seem to care about is fishing. Lanna goes on about how messy Denny's house is, even though he doesn't live there any more.

Elliot does nothing but complain about Julia's cooking. Julia calls Elliot pathetic.

Natalie and Pierre, to me it just seems like Natalie married him for the sake of having someone, and he just wanted someone to taste his food.

Now, Vaughn and Sabrina on the other hand, they really do seem to care about each other. I noticed, that the day after a snow storm, Vaughn commented that Sabrina was a total mess during the storm, in a way that seemed like he really did care about her. Sabrina does come across as really caring for him.

I don't know about Lilly and Will, because I married Will.

Now, if I would pair them off like this;

Denny and Natalie - I imagine that they would have more to them than Lanna and Denny.
Julia and Pierre - then it wouldn't matter that Julia can't cook.
Vaughn and Sabrina - they're too cute to break up.
Elliot and Lanna - because Elliot is sweet, and would make a very caring husband for Lanna. I think that's all Lanna wants really, is to be taken care of.
Will and Chelsea - because he is happy with me.
Lilly and Mark - because she isn't getting Will, lol.

Who would you pair off with who?

Well, it's just a game so happiness probably doesn't matter to the characters. If they even have emotions. :)
But I do agree that the marriages don't really seem...right. In fact, nothing about the romance in this game is right. You can't even date before you get married. That's sort of weird. Also, I guess it's pretty good that the couples aren't perfect together. I mean, no relationship is perfect, right? That's why I didn't like my marriage with Will (on my first file); he was too happy and cheery ALL THE TIME. Only one emotion... It started to creep me out.
And I guess those couples had to get married. I mean there's not a very large population on the islands, so what else can they do?
I think all the relationships in this game seem sort of fake, even your own, but maybe that's just my opinion. As for the pairings, I guess I like Sabrina and Will together...but they're related so that's probably illegal. I'd do this:

Lanna, Will
Julia, Denny
Sabrina, Elliot
Natalie, Vaughn
Lilly, Shea
Alisa, Pierre
Chelsea, Mark
Witch Princess, NO ONE.

I like the Lanna x Elliot idea.

My ideas for pairings:

Lanna x Elliot (So sweet!)
Sabrina x Vaughn (Already a good one. They seem to love each other.)
Julia x Mark
Natalie x Denny (That might be interesting.)
Lily x Will (I think this one was fine in the game, but I can't quite remember.)
Pierre x Chelsea (A.K.A, the MC! Just kidding, but we are married on the game.)

I would not change any. The game makers know their characters. And thinking about it now I can come up with more reasons for why an alternative pairing wouldn't get along than reasons for why they would. So I do not believe any of these people would be happier with someone else. They were all put with the character they want to be with most (not including the MC XD). Even if they don't seem happy all the time with their rival I think they'd be even less happy with a different marriage candidate.

Of course that is just my opinion.

I agree.
I mean, every couple fights sometimes, but that doesn't have to mean they don't love each other anymore ^^

It’s not just SI that the rivals seem to regret their marriage choices. I remember playing (M)FoMT, and almost all of the couples who got married seemed to express some unhappiness with their spouse when you talk to them. But then, like Googaboga and Greenfly mentioned, married life is like that. A large part of it is compromise, and learning to live together in harmony.

Still, it does seem as though the only spouse any of the marriageable characters are fully happy with is the MC…

Maybe that's just to give us a huge ego boost =P

Will and Lily are definitely happily married. Will even is jealous. He claims he would fight a duel if anyone even looked at Lily. It was actually pretty weird to see how happy they are since he is happily married to me in my other game slot.

I was a little disgusted with Elliott after he married Julia. He didn't want her to know he was accepting gifts from me. Makes me wonder what else he is keeping from her.

If I could choose the pairings, the way I would have personally done it is as follows:

Vaughn X Julia
Elliot X Lanna
Shea X Witch Princess
Pierre X Chelsea
Denny X Natalie
Mark X Sabrina
Will X Lilly

Personally, I think Elliot wouldn't be happy with Lanna at all.
She's much too loud and it would freak him out, he'd probably be very nervous most of the time.

Vaughn x Sabrina
Will x Lanna (Weird, I know)
Mark x Julia
Pierre x Lily (for her to have stamina-gaining food for the mine :lala: )
Denny x Natalie
Shea x Chelsea

I don't know about Elliot and WP, though. Maybe forever alone...? /*shot*

PEOPLE! Why are you all forgetting about Alisa?

I think Alisa and Elliot would be cute

Alisa doesn't want to be married in this game.

My couples:

Vaughn x Julia - they both love animals and with Julia's optimistic personality he would feel better. She would always cheer him up and he would know he can rely on her.

Elliot x Sabrina - he needs a girl who would be calm and she needs a boy who would be warm. I believe that Sabrina would not feel tired of Elliot being clumsy. They both would work together, watch the ocean together and live in happiness. Elliot would make her life better, because his personality is mild and she needs someone who would give her more warm emotions.

Denny x Natalie - I think that Denny would make Natalie more relaxed. He would show her that life can be full of fun and happiness.
