Birthday Gifts

How do you get birthday gifts from the villagers? Do you just have to talk to them on your birthday?
I want the Silkie Egg from Mirabelle. She is at 10 hearts and I'm in year 2, so will she give me the egg if I talk to her on my birthday?
Also, since I have most villagers at about 6 to 9 hearts, can I get gifts from all of them?

If I remember correctly, you need to have villagers in the high 7 heart range or more to receive a birthday gift. So Mirabelle should give you a gift, as well as the others who are high 7+.

They need to have around 6-7 hearts, if I remember well.
They won't visit your house, so you need to talk to them first, if you want to get a gift.
You can get a silkie egg from Mirabelle, but before you speak to her, save the game. If she won't give you the egg, turn off the ds and try again.

Don't neglect her before your birthday. She may lose enough points that she won't give you the gift.
Say hello to her everyday, you don't necessarily need to give her a gift but do speak to her.

And don't forget to clean you rucksack before talking to everyone. If you're going to receive gifts from many people, you'll need the space. And don't forget to talk to Kirk too.

I think the sad part of getting some gifts from other villagers is that they only give you food. I'd like some items too

They don't only give you food, since I remember Will giving me a Firefly Flower, which isn't edible (right..?)
Maybe next year they'll give you something different ^^

And I got an Emerald from Sabrina on my birthday (which was quite cool, because I used it in the Ore Festival and won

So yep, you don't always get edible presents.

On my birthday of my second file, I only received food. In my first file, I lost my first birthday, but it is happening again in three days, I hope I get some items
