Do you have to grow grass for the animals to graze outside or not?

Yes. Seeds are at Hanna's shop and it grows all year.

At least it doesn't die permanently and needs to be replanted like in IoH or SI.

The seeds are cheap at least, and the soil is free.

You have to replant it eventually. But it grows in 1-2 days so it's no big deal.

i remember in the wii harvest moon games there was a feild of grass already grown and ready for use....

Only ToT. AP you had to grow the grass yourself I believe.

I don't understand grass. Can anyone help me.

Yes it grows in a day or so but it only feeds a single animal. If I cut it I can feed 5 animals off a single bushel. Big efficiency difference. Plus, it is just a pain to get animals in and out of the doors since they can only be pushed so slowly.

Is there any reason why i would want to take them outside? And if yes, is there an easy way to actually get them outside?

Pretty sure bringing them outside makes them happier and lets them gain hearts faster. o3o

Either get the Animal Bell blueprint by giving Neil gifts (not a hand bell, but an outdoor ring-and-they-all-exit bell) or buy pets from Rod and assign them to work on managing the animals. With the pets though, if you are on your farm at 7am then you are forced to watch the pet herding cut scene. Every day at 7am and again at 5pm. Day after day.

Putting the animals outdoors lowers their stress and helps to increase friendship hearts.

Good to know. I might avoid pets if they are so annoying. I already time things so I don't have to watch neil bringing his cart into town everytime. Probably the biggest single design flaw that just keeps hitting me in the face.
