Your Thoughts?

So I just bought this game (after it being out for forever) and started to play it a little bit.
I don't know if maybe I'm used to ToTT which I've been playing a lot lately, or what, but so far I'm not really into this game. I was wondering what everyone else's thoughts were on the game?
Does it get any better? Or do I just need to get used to the controls? (I only played for about an hour, not really enough time to get used to it.) I'm going to keep playing it though to try to get used to it.
The thing that bothers me the most is that I have to hold down the B button to run. And that I can't just give people gifts. I guess it makes sense, but I'm so used to just being able to hand someone a gift it kinda through me through a loop.
Anyway now that I'm done rambling, for those who've been playing this game for awhile, how would you rate this game on a scale of 1-10?

That does make me feel a bit better lol. I haven't gotten quite that far yet.
Another question; Is there a rucksack upgrade to hold more items?

I also recently bought this game and have to say yes, it does get much better as you go along. I find that at the very beginning it is a bit boring as you're not sure what to do, and you basically have nothing (no barn, coop, some tools, etc). There are a lot of goals to work towards in the game, so it will not be boring later (especially if you're like me and like to collect everything, there is A LOT to collect). I'm at the end of my second year in-game and still feel like I haven't completed half of it.
Once you get to Spring 10th and the plot picks up, the sunstones will also give you something to do. You only have the main islands and haven't unlocked the mine or most of the characters yet, so don't worry, there is a lot more to the game than what you see at first. The gift-giving thing seems annoying now, but once you talk to the villagers five times they will accept gifts, and after not talking to them for a while it usually only takes a day or two to get them to accept gifts again, so it's not as big a deal later on. Once you start growing crops, the weather system will seem strange with sun and water points and such. If you're like me, you'll definitely need to use a guide (fogu's has great explanations) and keep track of how many points your crops accumulate. After a while though, you get used to it and after hearing everyone gripe about it in reviews, I was happy to find that it didn't bother me in the least. I would definitely give this game a 9-10, as it is one of my favourites because of the massive amount of content.
PS. Yes, there are two rucksack upgrades. You can buy them from Chen's general store. I can't remember exactly, but I know I bought them early on so I don't believe there are any special requirements to unlock them. (:

Yes, there is. The medium (two) and the large one (three).
I would rate it 9/10. I loved Sunshine Islands, it was my first HM game. And I agree with others who posted here: it gets more interesting in Spring 10.

Sweet, thanks guys!

I was hoping it would pick up. I never want to be able to say I didn't like a harvest moon game D:

SI had regular control pad controls as well. Are you talking about Island of Happiness?

That's true. But why? I love the touch screen control. It's easier.

If you were talking to me (idk if you were), they are rather...clunky in my opinion. Much easier to use a cursor of sorts.
(Sorry if that sounded rude)

I prefer not to use the touch screen myself... but then again I'm not really used to it so maybe that's it.

Like everyone says after Spring 10th it gets good plus after TOTT and FOMT this game has some of my favorite bachelors the bachelorettes are just meh in my opinion (Which is weird considering Im a boy ha ha)

lol Yeah I really like the bachelors in this game, which is why I wanted it in the first place. Except for Julia and maybe Lily though, I didn't really like the bachelorettes. (I'm female so I don't really choose to be a boy most of the time XD) Right now, I'm wondering who I'll go for once I get farther into the game. Currently though, I just got the new Kingdom Hearts game and I'm probably going to be playing that instead of this game for awhile. XD /addicted
But yeah, I'm thinking maybe Shea or Vaughn. Although Denny is cool too... And Elliot is kind of cute in a geeky way. lol

Honestly, I don't like this game. The main characters and bachelor(ettes) are all really cute and nice, but it doesn't make up for the gameplay. It is the only Harvest Moon game I played and didn't like,

I have yet to get around to finish up Sunshine Islands, but it does pick up after Spring 10. I was in high hopes for SI when it first came out since it actually had somewhat of a plot, compared to Island of Happiness, and that you didn't have to use the touch screen to move around anymore (that REALLY annoyed me in IoH).
To be honest, it was more of a "meh" game to me. I played a good bit of it, but in comparison to other games like ToTT, it isn't up to par with them. But, in comparison to IoH, Sunshine Islands was definitely better since it felt like it had "added features" to IoH.
