According to Gamestop Harvest Moon A New Beginning is one of the most anticipated games for the 3DS :) I never knew Harvest Moon games were so popular/hyped about. How do you guys think A New Beginning will do once it's out?

When ToTT came out, Gamestop told me that there wasn't a single pre-order for it except mine.

I honestly think the 3DS can be thanked for ANB's success. If it were just another DS game, I doubt it would be as popular.

That's nice.~
Where I live, HM doesn't seem to have high sales, so I'm able to grab them when they first come out.
I think that ANB will do good in sales, considering it sold a big amount in Japan, and through pre order, a few games are on a listing in gamestop, and in the one in the mall, 75 has been preordered there, while one near me closer has only 2.

I think the 3DS can breath new life into Harvest Moon and give us new ways to enjoy the game. I'm not much for the 3D, but games on the 3DS simply look nicer.

Have to say, the Gamestop that I work at has eight pre-orders on it already. But that's because I've converted people into Harvest Moon, Rune Factory lovers <3

I have to say I agree with this. Not many are into HM in my area, but Rune Factory is a popular hit.
I guess it depends where some people are. I don't know.

Not Call of duty or diablo level popular but they make some pretty large numbers of sales. If they were "never very popular" I doubt there would be quite so many iterations of the franchise. It is just not a game that people rave about publicly though.

And from what I've seen HMs are rarely a "BUY THE DAY IT COMES OUT MIDNIGHT RELEASE LINE OUT THE DOOR" type of game like CoD or Pokemon. They're more "pick it up whenever you feel like".

From my experience Harvest Moon is a game where if you haven't played one, you've at least heard about it in passing. It's like a well-known cult classic. If anything Rune Factory seems to be less popular in America due to it being a spinoff series of an already niche series. Doesn't mean it's bad though.

I would preorder this but I don't have the money ;A; Plus, the plushie isn't really enough incentive for me to preorder the game. If it came with the soundtrack or some bonus art (a la Ghost Trick and KH3D respectively) I would probably preorder it. Glad to see there's hype for it, though! :D

Haha, none of my friends know what Harvest Moon is, while I've played almost every game and have all of the DS/gameboy games.
