The Town
You can place your own roads down. They will connect if the collision is right. You can't plant trees (unless you have a field), but trees will randomly grow. It's actually quite annoying in the beginning. But after you build a stronger axe, you can cut the two types of trees and it won't be a problem.
You can put down "parks" which are a line of trees and a road. There are different types you can make but they're pretty big and not worth doing until you have all the houses built.
Roads can be placed in a square and if they're on the same line they will match up and make a road. If it's a little off by one square they won't match. Doing a cross roads is hard as it has to match corner by corner.
Trees are the bane of my game, at the start it was really bad. They'd pop up in a space where I had planned to put the next house and they'd appear in between the boxes I put down to try and block them growing. You can't cut them down when you're in the organising town game play, you have to finish and go into normal mode, cut them down then go back into the organising part.
Dirt is free so I recommend putting down as many dirt roads as possible to block the trees, they're much better than boxes. Once you get the upgraded axe you will always have enough wood so there's no need to grow the trees.

How are you guys going to design your town? =)
Sanjay and Amir are gonna be really close to me. =D I'll probably horde all the other useful shops around me, just so I don't have to my lazy character's butt all over the town. ^_^"
It makes me a little sad to hear that about the roads. I wanted a lot of stone walkways and stuff... I also want lots of flowers. =)
...But, I'm not sure, since I have seen most of the decorations and stuff you can place around the town... Does anyone have pictures or a list of the things you can place?

I kinda picture a business district for my town... I like having my own space to myself, and I don't mind the trek when I am trying to romance my man or women~
I'll have a business district, where all the shops and businesses. I'm gonna HOPE I can get the stone roads to work for the business district. There will be flowers! TONS AND TONS OF FLOWERS!
Where ever I buy my cows and other animals will be in the center of the residential district, or just really really far off in the corner. Depending on the feel I get for the charas who move in I will decide to put them. Like Sanjey and Amir might be off in a corner somewhere, or if someone is a recluse, I might put them in no mans lands somewhere...
I would like my town to have a natural feel to it, meaning I won't just cram everyone I want to talk to right next to me. But thats my own personal choice on the matter.

^ This seems most likely similar to what I will do. Without knowing how building things may affect my gameplay, I can't plan exactly, but... I'm going to try striking a balance between arranging things most efficiently for my gameplay and the personalities of the characters. For example... Witch Princess. She's probably gonna need an isolated spot. I can't imagine her welcoming many neighbors, unless her personality's changed significantly.

You can't control that one either, sorry. The "shop" is really just a booth that Niel sets up in the plaza area on specific days of the week. His shop, Rod's pets, Oliva's snacks, and Sandra's item exchange always are at the same place in the plaza. The plaza is a fixed location and can't be moved.Nice1220 wrote:The place where I BUY them. I can only buy them if they are on my farm?
Shops that you can choose where they are located are the restaurant, travel agency, doctor's office, clothing store, general store, etc., and villagers' residential houses.
