Harvesting in Summer?

I'm in my first year on SI, and I'm confused on how to harvest my corn or onions, because they may be mature, but they won't let me get anything.

Maybe you should wait a little longer. Are you watering it every day?

If you mean to harvest them, then just press A by them. I think Zaria nailed it though
