I can only speak from experience unfortunately; I don't have any official documentation. But I walked a little over 1200km over the course of 36 days and at the end of every day I'd sit down and play my 3DS to unwind a bit. For me there was a maximum of 10 coins obtained from walking per day and a maximum of 10 Streetpass Mii's that I could accept at a single time.

If you got more than 10 coins then I am interested to know what you did differently. Did you by any chance use some coins then earn some new ones? Did you earn them another way (ie. through some sort of hotspot location or somehting?) Or maybe your version, american I think you said in another thread, doesn't have an upper limit. As I said, I am using the Japanese 3DS so there could be something different between versions.

You guys can just change the date when you're walking. It thinks a day has passed so you can earn more play coins. Duh!

I didnt do anything special no, but yes I did use an American 3DS... Still they shouldn't be different, really, they are the same product, just from different places.

Anyway, I got 19 in one day, and then I spent them... So I don't know, I could be wrong, and had 9 previous to walking that day, but I don't think so...

EDIT: FantasyGamer, I dont recommend that, because it might screw up your games that run on timers, like Pokemon or Animal Crossing, so I don't think ou should do that, and you should probably set back the dates! (If you've changed them.)

I have a American 3DS as well. You can't get over 10 play coins in a day. I walk at least 2 miles each day (at least 3000 steps), and I only get 10 coins per day. :(

On the topic of changing the clock...
Spoiler:
As someone who as changed the clock in Pokemon (Black and White), changing the clock back doesn't do much. If the clock changes at all, the game will act if a minute hasn't passed in the game since you turned it off. Ex. In Pokemon White/Black, if you change the clock from Monday to Thursday, the game will act as if it's the same Monday before the time switch. If you want the game to recognize the date change, you have to wait until after the clock strikes midnight. Then, the game will realize that the time has changed.

I did time-travel (change the time) in Animal Crossing: Wild World in the past, but I haven't played that game in a long time (in real life), so I don't recall how that clock worked when messed with.

Edit - I once changed the date to get more play coins. Nothing particularly bad happened. The activity log looked odd for a while, but nothing bad or glitchy.

I just change the date back and forth. I don't keep it that way!

I'm sorry if I implied that.
Spoiler:
On my part, I've gotten impatient for certain events, or, in one case, I forgot it, so, to get them, I time-travel. :P

Okaaaay, getting back on the topic of ANB, I think it would be cool if you could use play coins to unlock things like outfits, or maybe even different animals~

Using Play Coins to unlock outfits? That would be far easier than trying to convince my Alpacas to re-grow their wool faster than normal so I can get outfits from the Oracle. xD
Also, I like how Play Coins are based on a pedometer. It encourages lazy gamers like me to actually get up and do stuff. Sense of in-game accomplishment + physical activity = happy people in hospitals who won't have to lug my obese butt onto a gurney. (Actually, I'm underweight, but still... You get the idea.)

I would love if play coins could be used in the game, then I'd finally have a use for mine…

Implementing the ability to use play coins to use in-game would be nice.

Maybe we could purchase things like ores or something nice. :3c

Maybe new wallpaper or flooring for the houses like a mario theme floor or kirby wallpaper. I would like that instead of new animals. Even better pokemon clothes. Can you see yourself in a pikachu suit or a jigglypuff one. I can.

Everything sounds like such good ideas~
I would't have many coins though, since I don't really walk around with my 3ds.

What if you got 100 and you could raise a heart level with someone? That'd be cool.

Appearently we won't need that, cause it is really easy to raise freindship in ANB.
