Ushi No Tane Forum

Hey everybody. I'm a bit new to the Harvest Moon series, although I've been playing ToTT for awhile now. I just bought SI, and I had to buy it pre-owned from Gamestop, so I'm not sure if some of the stuff in the game is normal, or a glitch. I might just be so used to ToTT, but a lot of things seems weird in this game. I've already got Sprite Island and the sunstone event thing on Spring 10th, but the game still seems to drag by. If someone could explain some of this stuff and answer my questions, that'd be great. (:

-The time I wake up varies each day. Some days I'll wake up at 6am, some days it'll be 10am, and somedays its noon.
-When I plant my seeds in their 3x3 little plot, and start watering them, I find that I can't water the middle square once the plant reaches its second stage of growth, after being seeds. The game will let me water the outside ring of crops, but that one space on the inside it won't let me reach.
-I can't drop branches and rocks on the ground to cut/smash them. If I try, a message will pop up saying I'm littering.

Those are just some weird things I've noticed. I also have some questions.
-How do you cook?
-How can you keep your fullness bar full without having to buy a bunch of stuff from the diner/cafe?

Again, sorry if these questions have already been asked/answered/explained. SI is a completely new game for me, and I'm a bit lost on how to start. ^^;

To attempt to answer some of your questions from what I remember (it's been a couple years since I played):

None of those are glitches I believe, just regular gameplay. SI is a lot more complicated than ToTT or GrB.

The waking up at different times is because of your fullness bar. The emptier it is when you go to bed, the later you wake up.

Watering plants - yep, you can't walk on your plants in this game. So if you want to water the inside plant, you have to get a new watering can with wonderful slots (look for a can at Gannon's place - it's 1000g per slot so if you find a 3000g watering can it has three slots) and then buy the red wonderful from Chen (pretty sure it's the red one) which you have Chen's son Charlie equip onto the watering can for you. Then you can charge up and it will water a longer area, allowing you to get the center plant. Harvesting will give you similar difficulties with multi-harvest crops.

You can only drop stuff to chop/smash it on your field area. Anywhere else is littering. So use your field space wisely.

Cooking... hmm... I think you have to expand your house with Gannon and then buy the kitchen stuff from Chen. Oh, and you learn recipes by gifting food to the two diner-owner people (only certain items and certain recipes from each person - see the site for which ones). I think you can only cook what you have a recipe for, too.

You can also eat herbs and stuff you forage to restore some fullness.... but in general cooked food is best. I did some math a while back to figure out which diner foods gave you the most stamina for your G... hmm... I think it was fried egg from one place and... was it miso soup from the other? I'm not certain any more. But if you check out that game guide, you can do the math to figure it out yourself too.
