I'M BACK
did I miss anything?
Also, regarding the magic discussion: I don't know if you guys are talking about staves, but I use staves a lot in ToD - on bosses, anyway. I have crappy gear in that game so long distance is a must. Plus, even when their attack stat is low they actually do a decent amount of damage. (Seriously, I have a Crimson Staff with an attack of 80 and some dual blades with like, 118 attack - the Crimson Staff does much more damage.) Basically: I find staves to be great for bosses but terrible everywhere else. (Though Fleet Foot is a nice ability...)

I think in every game but the first I stuck to magic in boss fights, but aside from that I've never used much other than healing spells.

Haha, actually I use all weapons in equal amounts.. this is (was) so that I could level up weapon skills. One needs to be around (slightly different) skill level 40 for each weapon skill to be able to digest all weapon recipe breads, and skill level 50 to be able to digest all high level weapon recipe breads.
I just got used to multi-wielding so much that it just feels natural now to multi-wield hehe. My highest leveled weapon skill is one handed at 96 though! So no, I'm not a pure mage

I hope not to sound too impatient, but will there be more information put on the page about the events soon Daisuke?

I've been busy with school this past week along with homework. I'll try and get started on the events page. Note, the events section isn't a summary of the events but just what to expect from them and how they work in contrast to past RF games.

still, my knowledge on Japanese isn't as good as yours or Fin's.
But...ahhh, heck with it. Brief summaries of the sub events it is...

woops lol
still, I've actually been thinking on making actual summaries for the sub events for a while now but like I said, my Japanese knowledge is below mediocre...If you or Fin can help out with the info bits while I type the summaries, it'd be greatly appreciated. However, main romance sub events of marriage candidates remain under spoiler tags.

Haha! yeah okay
You should see this chance to improve your japanese reading skills though~~ it's not like RF4 uses particularly hard words :D

Yesh. And yeah, as far as hiragana goes, I'm completely cool with the game in terms of understanding simple phrases.
I still need a bit more polishing with katakana...
Kanji, I now know some of the commonly used ones like "really", "please", "today", "tomorrow", "wood", "happy" ect but I'm still practicing.
Next playthrough (which is after I waffle through Meg/Dolce/Forte's post marriage events), I'll take it more slowly...
Three questions added to the FAQ.

How can you have more trouble with katakana than hiragana? They are basically western words japanified...? Am I missing something?
I have the opposite problem with yours. Kanji is effortless and katakana is easy enough, (shouldn't it be?) I just need to read it. Hiragana is still a 70% ok - 30% not ok, so I'm not going to pass the JLPT1 anytime soon..
also you didn't remove your [reserved for more space] line on the second post hehe

Woah. Gotta fix my second post then, haha...
No, I dont have trouble with katakana when it comes to names...Just Doug uses them a lot in his dialogue compared to the other characters. In terms of reading names or engrish text in the game written with katakana like PRESENT, not much problem. Just some katakana characters I tend to forget.
Funny though, I memorized the entire hiragana chart in two days. Since then, I didn't have to rely on looking back at the chart anymore like I did when I started the game.
