If you had to pick a HM game that HM:NB is most like, what would it be?

I would say the closest is...none of them really. ANB really stands out on its own. If I had to choose, probably IoH since you're trying to make the town lively again while in IoH you're making the island popular again.

I don't think you can really compare many HM games to each other, unless they are like HM 64, MFOMT, etc. /is probably wrong

Anyway, I don't know. I haven't really played IoH.

.....None.Well,of course there's some stuff that ANB has that some/all of the other ones had, but,I don't really think it's like the previous ones that much.

Only a couple of HM games are similar to others, IoH and SI basically, and also FoMT and MFoMT, as well as, HM DS and HM DS Cute

um..you can compare a few. I mean, look at Save The Home Land and Hero Of Leaf Valley. Yea, HoLV is kind of a 'remake' but you can still compare them. You can also compare DS to both AWL and FoMT. Personally, while each game stands out, you can easily compare aspects of each game.(like the dating systems, planting crops and taking care of animals, how the seed bags work, what upgrades you can get for the tools, ext) Comparing entire games to other entire games is kinda hard unless they're direct remakes(like comparing G/S/C to HG/SS or something) and you can't compare games to games outside it's series, but you can compare games.

Personally, I haven't played it nor seen enough of the game to know what it's like, but I get the feeling with so much new stuff, there really isn't anything it compares to.(be that a good thing or bad)

Each are kind of improved upon, new additions but there's also things that can repeat, such as barns and animals, ANB sounds similar and different to every game before it, the only similarity is the elements romance and farming but even with every game they're different.

There can also be characters similar to others, but it's not likely to be overly similar to a single gameXD There are a few that can be compared are where they're mild adaptations to the previous game it came from (for example, a wonderful life/another wonderful life, IOH/SI, and TOT/AP).

They're similar with characters, story, etc and maybe one or two differences) oh and in most games harvest goddess exists, she's like the sid (from final fantasy) of harvest moon.

I think it's kind of similar to DS and DSCute, mechanics wise. You could put stuff where you wanted on your farm in those ones, have gold lumber, and customize your clothes and your house sort-of (dscute).
