The american version of his name is the best I think.

Amir sounds perfect for his look.

I agree that Schmidt sounds German, but for the japanese players it may be kind of exotic.
I'm from Germany and we have to call him Safran, like the flower. Its only for cooking and I don't want to call my husband that name. *horrible*
