What you need first in the first time.....
I think I make a post about it
here
after that find the sunstone ASAP you can see the site for more info.
after that, if you have a spare time try to talk with all villager in town, you need talk with them 5 days arow to make them accept your gift.
If you need anything else just post a thread and we try to help you o3o

It's a better improvement to IoH.
I don't really prefer this game, since I never got into it. At the beginning it's slow, but you'll start moving forward quicker.
I don't have a great opinion or anything to say about it, but look up some game plays if you like. It'd give you a good idea.

There are the same characters from IoH, the same rival events and stuff.
I really liked the game, though, and it just starts being interesting from Spring 10 and later.

Actually, the rival pairs are the same, the rival events are different.

See? The interesting part is when you meet the harvest sprites and have to search for the sunstones.
In the beginning you just learn how to grow crops and get items like hammer, sickle and axe from Gannon.

There is very good information on the web, and there are lots of guides/walkthroughs, some give you an excellent "how to start" information, priceless. SI is my fave HM game and I played almost all of them, including the old SNES and GB ones.
At the beginning it's hard, but it gets better and better, you have to pay attention and work hard, also mining in this game is really challenging but the rewards are awesome, make accessories out of Orichalcum ore and by the time you have a lot of them you should have access to the lower floors. I think the Volcano Island is very important in this game!

Save most of your income and raise Volcano Island first. Mining gets you some materials for makers and accessories, which will help in the long run.
