I'm currently debating whether to get a 3ds or 3ds XL, (still undecided) and i found out the 3ds xl doesn't have the 2nd analog stick. Will HM:A new beginning require the second analog stick? And do you reccomend the 3ds or 3ds XL? Thanks in advance for helping me.

No, ANB doesn't require the second analog stick. Hardly any 3DS games do, and they get the most use out of left handed Kid Icarus: Uprising players. *obligatory rimshot*

As for the normal 3DS vs the XL, just go with your preference. I have the normal one because I think the larger screen is unnecessary, and my friend just got the XL because she has horrid eyesight, and apparently the bigger screen helps her read the text better. Whatever floats your boat, I guess. :)

I can't say anything about the analog stick, but the few games I've played never required it. At most it just turned the camera a little. But I'm sure they wouldn't remove it if it hurt gameplay. At most it would just be replaced with another button.

One thing I think would be good about the XL is the extra battery life. I think my battery lasts about 3 1/2 to four hours normally, even after I turned down the backlight. Whenever it dies it feels like I JUST finished charging. When November rolls around and there's be a bunch of new games to play it'll probably be a (slight) annoyance.

That and the screen is supposed the be really big, which should be nice to look at graphics. I would wait to see what reviews say about the 3d though--with the normal 3DS you have to be careful how you hold it, otherwise it's blurry. I'm not sure if the larger screen would make that problem worse or if they improved it, but it's something I'd watch out for.

I'm happy with my normal 3DS though, I have no desire to swap it out. I bet there's a pretty good price difference, and I don't think you'd be losing out with a normal 3DS. Sorry for rambling, good luck making a choice!

The screen is huge! After playing a 3DSXL a regular DS (or 3DS in this case) looked really small. The bad thing about a 3DSXL is that some things might looks kind of pixelated because of the bigger screen. Some people can overlook this easily and some can't, it's a personal preference.

I think it can go either way. Both are good but you'd probably want to try both out and see which one you're more comfortable playing with. Some people don't like how big the 3DSXL is and some love the bigger size.

There is one thing about my 3DS that I do not like : the stylus is located on the back, so it is very awkward to get to it when the lid is up. And, since the lid is always up while playing, the stylus location is a constant annoyance.

The 3DSXL has the stylus located on it's side just like it is on all the other DS consoles. So, soon I will be trading my reg 3DS in towards a XL one.

Well, I say you should choose the one you like best. C:
With me I will soon be getting a regular 3DS, simply because I think smaller is better, and it's easier to carry around. :D

I had brought a DSi XL and I fell in love with the big screen compared to the DS lite I had for years. I waited (prayed) for the 3DS XL. I brought it has soon as it came out. The battery life is good and I can see what I'm doing. If only had come out orginally in pink...

I'm the same as Nikkicat94. Bought a DsiXL, then got a 3DS and prayed for an XL version. The 3DSXL is so very awesome!!! My one and only issue I had was how flippin' LONG it took to transfer my stuff from the 3DS to the XL, although it was cute watching it because Pikmin moved it from one to the other in pieces :) .

In case you haven't seen it in the other 3DS or 3DSXL thread (http://www.fogu.com/hmforum/viewtopic.php?f=28&t=149941), Taniyama Mai wrote a pretty nice review of the 3DSXL. I'm taking her word and making plans to purchase a 3DSXL. :)
Taniyama Mai wrote:I *just* got the 3DSXL yesterday. This is what I've found.

The system is interesting. The buttons under the screen are different,(not bad, but different) the inside is black instead of the color of the system like the others(Because the inside is black, I don't think it matters what color you get because you're not going to see it while you're playing), and it has the cutest little spot to hang stuff(not important, but I love hanging « Puppy Doodoo » off my stuff XD)
The color is interesting. We got a red one(my fav color) and I noticed something as soon as I took it out of the box. Now, this could just be because it's red and not blue, but there is something obviously different. the 3DS has this sort of clear coating over it and if you look at the edges, you can see that it it goes farther than the actual system(you can see a metal edge inside it) The color is also sparkly. The coating and shape gives it this almost 3D affect(how fitting) but the XL, is matte. it has no shine, no sparkle, and doesn't feel like it has a gloss on it.(it's smooth, but there isn't a gloss of any sort) so it shows finger prints pretty easily.(not as easy as the DSlite, but unlike the lite, it's not as easy to wipe clean)

The screen is HUGE. The system it's self isn't much bigger than two gameboy advances sitting on top of each other, so if you had one of those you'll know how big it is(stacking my 3DS on top of it, it's about 2 centimeters taller and 3 longer) but compared to the 3DS, the screen seems to be 3x bigger.

The display is really nice. Now, we only have 2 3DS games. Kid Icarus and ToTT. I had ToTT handy and I popped that in and because the 3D one was my mother's, I never bothered to play it, so idk if the slightly fuzzy, funny looking text is just the game, or the XL, but I'm now back to playing the newest Prof. Layton game and the text and everything is totally fine with it, so I'm guessing the game. I'm also now better able to notice the interesting way the game was changed to be 3D, and I hope that the way ToTT looks is just because it wasn't made with 3D in mind, cause it's weird. Sure, the trees and water look amazing, and particular spots are just gorgeous, BUT, there are also spots that just don't look right. For one, you, your horse, and items that aren't part of the actual land are all on the same 'level' while most everything else is placed on lower levels(minus the trees and the waterfall) and in one spot, I found that you could see almost every level(on the Bluebell side of the mountain, I believe one 'page' off from the top) I could stand on this bridge and I could see everything below her, behind her, ext, and then I noticed..a branch on the ground of the land below the bridge, but it, being a item..was on the same level as the character and appeared to be floating. That's just weird, and with the bigger screen, I noticed it much easier than I would have on the smaller screen.

Being that I'm now playing a game that came out a long while before the fist 3DS came out on the 3DSXL, I can also tell you how it looks playing non-3D games. For me, it's MUCH better than the 3DS. in the 3DS, if I didn't hold start and select while the game loaded to change the resolution, it was very fuzzy and weird. With the XL I don't have to. It looks perfectly fine and I haven't even tried to change it. idk why, but it looks much better to me.

TL;DR, I like the XL MUCH BETTER. as far as size and performance(lawl that sounds so dirty XD) but I like the 3DS better as far as look goes. From this, you can make your own decision. I personally think the XL is the way to go through. It's not heavy, it's really not bulky(if you're a girl, it fits in your purse just fine) Honestly, unless you have baby hands, super weak arms, or are very picky about the look, I don't see any reason to not get the XL if you're looking into getting one of the 3D systems, but I'll leave you with this info so you can make your own decision~ :)

Actually the ANB requires Analog, or Im pretty sure. Whenever I use the arrow thing it just zooms in and out of your player and moves the camera. The only way to move is with the 2nd analog stick! I dont know how thats going to work! I prefer to use the 2nd analog stick though. Even on Pokemon that doest even let u move diagonal it feels better.

It requires the analog stick that above th D-Pad. The OP is asking about a second one that was an additional accessory.
