Due to popular belief Tales is better. But if your a fan of the Star Ocean series then get that. Star Ocean is definetly longer and harder, but with it's own drawbacks (Animation, and takes a few hours to get interesting). Tales is short and sweet but also has drawbacks (Characters look like kids, story is not fully developed). Tales is fun right off the bat, but Star Ocean is more of a traditional RPG with lots of explaining. So if you have Gamecube get Tales, if you have Ps2 get Star Ocean.

ToS was a good game, but there are many games better. Like Cassik said it's definatly not better than Chrono Trigger and there's no chance in the heavens that it is better than FFVII (I'm currently playing it for PC and it pwns). And the Zelda series still pwns all else for Nintendo products. I personally really enjoyed ToS though. Great battle system.lalalalala wrote:actually i think itwasn't enoughno game in the history of games compares to ToS !

Kafie Chrono Trigger is older has a more generic look and also doesn't have skits, but it is by far the best RPG in history. Final Fantasy VII did not have the generic Hero look to it, the first Final fantasy did. I don't see Cloud a guy with a big sword Spikey hair and memory loss as a generic RPG hero, in fact I think he was the first and all other characters of the same walk are based off him (Kalas, Zidane, Squall, Fei Fong Wong). FFVII is what started the major major fan base for the Final Fantasy series. Also on a side note I don't like Final Fantasy VII as much as VIII. Kafie I also want to note the skits weren't that cool in ToS. It was just a clever way to cram more info into the game without having the character models do the acting.Kafei wrote:Come now, be logical. That wouldn't work out too well, because you'd have to go out for a cutscence, and then back again, and it'd get abnoxious...Cassik wrote:Well wouldn't you rather see them try to use the Kendama instead of talking about it? I sure would.Kafei wrote:Hey hey hey, the skits had a lot of the humour! LIKE KENDAMA CONTEST!
In essence a skit is a cutscene without visuals. So all you really have to do is just add in a preset spot for the scene to trigger.Kafei wrote:That wouldn't work out too well, because you'd have to go out for a cutscence, and then back again, and it'd get abnoxious...Cassik wrote:Well wouldn't you rather see them try to use the Kendama instead of talking about it? Ok, I just wanna say, how does Kalas fit into "based off" Cloud? He didn't have memory loss, YOU did. And then... well, the story progresses, and you discover the truths.Cassik wrote:Kafie Chrono Trigger is older has a more generic look and also doesn't have skits, but it is by far the best RPG in history. I did wish the skits were better in ToS, though. At least with voice acting. But still, ToS beats SO3 many times over. I dunno about Chrono Trigger, I've never played it. I wanna, though.
