I really am looking forward to the release of this game. But I am just rather worried. Considering how disappointing the HM games on the DS were, do you think that this one will be like that?

Well the only DS game I've played was Sunshine Islands, and I didn't find it disappointing. But what exactly do you mean? Like, the controls, the gameplay, characters; what exactly did you dislike about the other games that you think will be in this one?

From what I've heard ANB has been pretty well received, so hopefully any old problems were fixed! (:

I assume you mean how shallow and unengrossing the other DS titles have been. Based on the Japanese wikia, I can assure you that the characters are a LOT better. Everything sounds better.

Haha, sorry I didn't elaborate.. I mean all of those things. Controls, gameplay, characters, and the fact that they were shallow.. etc etc. Just, everything about them was pretty bad. Grand Bazaar was a step up, but it still was a poor quality game.

So yes, what will differentiate it, is my question.

I've been trying not to spoil it for myself toooo much, but, this is what's made me excited about it:

+ Deep, interesting characters with oodles of dialogue. This page is Rod's collected dialogue ALONE.
+ Customization will allow a more personal playing experience. The ability to change your character around even after you've started the game means that if you get bored, you can just try on a new look!
+ Tons of festivals
+ Your child grows to a teenager by him/herself, and then to an adult with your help

If you check the official/unoffical countdown thread, people are talking about why they're excited for ANB, too. :D

Yeah, I think that ANB seems more like a Wii HM game then a DS one, especially in respect to the characters. They seem a lot more unique and defined compared to older games. Overall it seems like a more realistic HM. (:

I know a lot of people are comparing it to Magical Melody, not sure if you liked that game or not.

Seconding this a TON. It feels a lot like Magical Melody spliced with the Wii ones, scaled down to fit a handheld. I adore the combo.

^ I also agree with the Wii HM mixed with Magical Melody :D I Love that game, and I noticed that the MC use the same hand gestures like the Magical Melody MC did. :lala:
