I have a mother and a sister. Neither of them are especially delicate. That's made me a master of house work. I had a father as well, if that's what you call it. I don't think of a man who was never at home as my father.

I wouldn't be surprised if he became an amazing dad just to not be like him. Welp, now I'm kinda sad, despite him saying it with the usual smile

Arrogant guys usually make me sick but... It still feels good when they are actually sweet to you sometimes? Kinda? Do y'all know what I mean? I dunno... it's late... my brain is fried from studying for my chem exam. I just want to play the game already. TT____TT But I get it tomorrow!!! Yayayayayayay!!

The being sweet to you sometimes(while being abusive the rest) is a tactic abusers use to make you feel guilty when you don't like them/try to get away/break up. Allen is a very extreme case of an arrogant guy type. IF a real guy is acting that way, you get away.

This isn't to say some of the possessive stuff he says doesn't make me swoon a bit, but I am a submissive so... I have a twisted sense of romance? But since it is Harvest Moon, and obviously that dynamic isn't really there, it is just creepy. I didn't sign a contract to be his 24/7 so he can shove his "princess" and "baby" spiel. In Ar Tonelico 3 I liked the way Aoto and Finnel's relationship worked. That was a pretty clear indicator of a BDSM thing so it wasn't creepy... to me.

Although, it does seem to suggest he has relationship issues, or is fearful of losing people, which is rather nice depth.

Just gonna say, suggesting from that comment that he has relationship issues or adds depth is really really stretching it. Pretty sure it's just because he's blunt and kind of a realist.
My dad comes up to me when I'm petting our older cat and EVERY TIME has to tell me "You know she's going to die soon."
That's not because of any deeper reason other than my dad is a jerk.

It really was just a plain 'ol mean thing to say. Interesting though, they really went all out with him. Wonder if it was a test to see how many fans a character that was cruel to you but is a bishounen would get.

I see they changed his "this old man" into "I". That makes him a lot less obnoxious, thankfully

I wanna know if they keep his "Your uncle in shining armor is here!" (actually it was "on a white horse") line for the Starry Night Festival xD

I'm very glad about this. I don't wanna spoil any of Soseki's dialogue so I haven't looked at any but I don't wanna see him call himself an old man all the time. And I'll have a lot of reservations if he calls himself an uncle also...

I think the main reason people are okay with it (or me at least) is because they know it's fictional. I find it amusing to see self-absorbed idol-types in games but they absolutely disgust me in real life. I should probably hate fictional versions of guys and girls like that given my father is an abusive « Mr.Gourmet's hat », but for some reason it doesn't bug me that much in HM. Perhaps because the entire game is just too hard for me to take seriously given how cutesy it is.

But who knows.

Oh yes I completely agree, HM has these types of personalities just for fun, it's completely harmless and what makes the games so funny and oddball-ish is the diverse range of characters.

It's hard to say, really. My interpretation is simply that he is just a jerk haha. I'm trying to think of a reason one would have for saying that... and there aren't really any. It's just a very unnecessary and thoughtless thing to say.

Yes, I'm glad. I just say these things because even if some realize it's fictional, I have seen a lot of people that... don't seem to. I've never understood fangirls/fanboys, but I don't think his personality is a good one to idolize. So I just wanted to make sure. For me I can't really disconnect him from being personal/real because I had an abusive boyfriend. So dating an in-game guy saying some of the exact same stuff my abuser used to say to me... Yeah not happening. I don't even plan on talking to him in my game.

Does anyone have the list of all the hairstyles? I can't seem to find it, and I wanna know what hair I'll miss out on...

I like quiet, stoic type guys but not so much tsundere. Along with all the other "types" though, it makes it easier to write characters. I have honestly stopped watching anime since it all seems to be lazy and predictable lately. If I can predict everything a character is going to say and do because they are written to fill a type, then I'm not gonna watch it. That's just boring.
