The being sweet to you sometimes(while being abusive the rest) is a tactic abusers use to make you feel guilty when you don't like them/try to get away/break up. Allen is a very extreme case of an arrogant guy type. IF a real guy is acting that way, you get away.

This isn't to say some of the possessive stuff he says doesn't make me swoon a bit, but I am a submissive so... I have a twisted sense of romance? But since it is Harvest Moon, and obviously that dynamic isn't really there, it is just creepy. I didn't sign a contract to be his 24/7 so he can shove his "princess" and "baby" spiel. In Ar Tonelico 3 I liked the way Aoto and Finnel's relationship worked. That was a pretty clear indicator of a BDSM thing so it wasn't creepy... to me.

It really was just a plain 'ol mean thing to say. Interesting though, they really went all out with him. Wonder if it was a test to see how many fans a character that was cruel to you but is a bishounen would get.

I'm very glad about this. I don't wanna spoil any of Soseki's dialogue so I haven't looked at any but I don't wanna see him call himself an old man all the time. And I'll have a lot of reservations if he calls himself an uncle also...

Well the only character types that annoy me just a tad in harvest moon and rune factory games are tsunderes, since I think they are overused. But none of the characters bother me, it's all a bit of fun anyway C:
