Tetrisash wrote:Why the hell am I repeating myself to you for the fourth time? That's just ridiculous. You say it's not his business. For the last bloody time, once she brought it up into conversation, she made it fine for anyone to comment on it. That's all there is to it. If she didn't want that, then she should shut up. Toni didn't even care about her weight when she first brought it up, he just said it sounded boring (wow, a kid thinks jogging is boring, who woulda thought!) and, once again, she flips « Cow Poopoo » and goes on a tirade about her looks and her meals, and he pointed out that she did her meals all wrong. Once again, much more useful than blindingly patting her on the back and telling her good job. She's an unlikeable boring superficial psycho « Baaaa *glomp* ». Better than Michelle, granted, but still.

And no, she can, but I've ran into more than enough dolts in real life who fish for compliments and I know it when I see it. This is one of those times.

And once again, no, you can't just make half of it serious and the other half humorous at your convenience. When I saw the scene, I laughed and moved on, but if people are going to respond to the event seriously, then yes, Tina abuses children, Tina is insecure and high maintanence, Toni is brutally honest as kids are wont to do, and Tina doesn't like hearing the truth despite how much it may help her.
Nope, still not his business. Interesting how someone's right to say whatever they want trumps other people's feelings. And uhh... Yeah he should have stopped there. She didn't flip « Cow Poopoo » right away actually she just talked about how she has to keep up and be strict with what she does. Again I say... he doesn't need to pat her on the back. There are a thousand different things to say than "LOL YOU STUFF YOUR FACE". I've met a lot of real life children that aren't like that and being a child doesn't mean you can say whatever you want. He's not even that young anymore. I'd say it's maybe excusable if he's like 5-6 but he's beyond that. If Tina simply mentioning those things is a "tirade" to you then I don't know what to tell you. And really? A psycho « Baaaa *glomp* »? Because... she cares about her appearance and doesn't like a child being rude to her? Well you're entitled to your opinion but wow that's awfully hateful for one scene.

I stopped hating other women when I realized it was pointless and that we are turned against each other for the silliest things. Amazingly when women try to fish for compliments and I genuinely talk to them and ask if they are okay it turns out they are usually depressed, insecure or in need of help. Not always but really... hating women for being insecure is counter productive. Considering the fact that women are bombarded everywhere they go with what the "perfect woman" is, what the hell do you expect? Being mad and hating each other doesn't help.

I didn't construe it. I was saying how it's funny that you take that child abuse part so seriously but not the fact that Toni is body shaming an insecure girl. She "deserved" it right? Because anyone can say whatever they want and get away with it cause she was talking about herself so... oh whatever is said she had it coming! Stupid girl thinking that a little boy wasn't a jerk that thought he has any right to tell her what to do with her body! Honestly I despise that girls weight have to be brought up in every form of media. I don't care what the girls weigh I love them regardless. TINA DOESNT NEED TONI'S HELP! ALERT ALERT SHE DOES NOT NEED THE ADVICE OF A CHILD ON HOW TO TAKE CARE OF HER BODY! Also this just in: taking care of yourself means you are high maintenance!
Also lol your description of what happened is so twisted and your hatred for her is really scary. I don't even hate Allen that much.

@ Emurii
Niko's dialogue is so depressing. I don't talk to him much cause it just makes me sad. Why are people's self esteem always being treated like jokes?

It is, and it's good she's jogging, but I'm not even talking about her actual weight (it's obvious she looks fine anyway, if you want to get right down to it), I'm talking about the socializing with Toni. She brings up a subject, he makes a comment about the jogging portion of it, then she gets crazy offended and goes on about her diet, so he makes a comment about her diet being whack, and she proceeds to be even more crazy offended. I honestly fail to see what he did wrong, whether it was a child or adult, male or female, if something is wrong with someone's diet, in all freakin' honesty someone else is doing them a kindness pointing it out. If she cared that much about her weight in the first place, she'd realize the criticism is valid and correct it, not wig out on the person giving her the cold hard truth to a subject that she started talking about in the first place.
Weight is only a problem if you can't move anymore, and even if it is a legitimate health problem their body is not your business. How they eat, is not your business. They can love themselves and still be overweight. Plenty of people are overweight and are healthier than skinny people. It really has very little to do with anything. Someone else's weight and diet is none of their business and he was a brat. Him saying it's boring or whatever doesn't even matter. Yeah I expect a kid to think jogging is boring and I didn't see her talking more about taking care of herself as being upset? She just said she has to work hard to maintain her looks. Again why is people's right to say whatever they want an excuse for saying rude things?

Body shaming?! ROFL. You're acting like he called her a fat walrus, when in reality he said she ate in between meals and brought the extra weight on herself. Both are just true. Are people nowadays so scared of truth that they get this offended when it's told to them? And Toni wasn't telling her what to do with her body, the hell did you even pull that from? She was attempting to lose weight in the first place, and she's sucking at it if she's inhaling food in between meals. He said so. So obviously she DOES need a child's help to reach her weight goal.

And no their business, bladeebla. For the fifth and final time, if you don't want someone knowing and replying about your business, don't talk about your business. It's logic. But apparently you can't grasp that since you keep bringing it up over and over, and frankly if I ever ran into someone who started talking about things and then started getting « Baaaa *glomp* » at me for responding to them, that person can proceed to please never talk to me ever again, as I prefer to talk to normal, sane, not highly-emotional undramatic logical people.

Not to mention the plethora of mental health issues that come with having body image problems, which we all have to some degree, but are far more likely to have if we are severely over- or underweight.
Again why is people's right to say whatever they want an excuse for saying rude things?

Eesh heated.

I just wanted to say that I've hated Rebecca from the start 'cos first thing she says to me is my arms were too skinny and I'll be useless unless I put on some muscle >:[ I mean I just built her a house! Like mother like son, amirite?

I got so mad I actually don't even talk to her anymore! But I guess I'm sensitive like that XD

I actually find it interesting that we are getting scenes that have more character depth to them. The fact that not every scene is sunshine and rainbows makes the cast have stronger character to them. You see that they have arguments and worries of their own and it helps us as humans relate to them a bit more.

and you people probably shouldn't argue like this on a message board though. the topic of weight and social etiquette surrounding that can really be a lengthy debate. ...you both have pretty valid points but I think it's clear that neither of you are going to back down. so lets just stop this and be at peace and happy, yeah? ^-^

Lol, I don't think that's as bad an Dunhill saying you look like your father from behind, which is actually pretty offensive if you're playing as a girl. XD

-shrug- I'm usually way to stubborn to back down, but honestly this isn't helping the knot in my chest and I need to find something else to do rather than argue with someone equally as stubborn.

On a final note, I hate kids. They're loud, obnoxious, a lot of them are spoiled, and a lot of parents allow them to get walked over, letting their kids be little terrors that I often fantasize about throwing a chair at. But no one should ever be demonized for telling the truth, which is what Toni did. Our society has issues with dealing with truth and logic enough as it is, please don't help it.

I kind of agree with different views from everyone. Yes women are more pressured than men to worry about their weight, and there are some women that do worry about their weight and they aren't even remotely over weight! (Like Tina in this case) Was she fishing for compliments? Maybe, maybe not, I don't think so. She seems to have a positive up-beat attitude and doesn't necessarily need compliments. Plus there are several different way/tones to express whether or not someone is overweight. Toni is a boy, he's blunt, and he's probably 10. I personally knew by time I was 10 not to call others fat (true or not) The thing that bothered me was he said fat. Fat has such a rude and negative connotation, and I would never say it to someone unless I wanted to be hurtful (Which I don't so no need to say it) My mother always taught me "If you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all" Either way it's just a game and there's no reason to get overly upset :(

Not everyone that is overweight, overeats. My sister exercises and eats healthy and weighs a lot more than me. Again, just because you are overweight doesn't mean it's because you eat unhealthy or overeat. Plenty people have disorders that make it literally impossible for them to lose weight. And I've not met many girls, even skinny girls that don't have body image issues. That's a whole 'nother can of worms about society and the right people think they have to women's bodies and how they should look. And if someone is unhealthy because of their weight, does it even matter? If it truly is because they stuff their face and overeat then... does them being overweight impede on your life? I despise smoking, and I also despise smoking marijuana. I still voted for it to be legalized in my state(which it was!) cause, whatever, I don't have to smoke it so I don't care.

I'm from the US, and I'm fully aware of the freedom of speech. I don't really think that justifies being an « Duck Quacker » still. Sure they can say it, but that doesn't make them anything but an « Duck Quacker ». I don't believe that someone taking offense to an offensive thing is in the wrong and deserved it because they dared to speak. Honesty is fine, and you don't have to sugarcoat it but it also doesn't have to be put as a way to tear someone down.

But seriously though I kind of agree that Tina wasn't fishing for compliments. That's like saying "I've been sleeping too much so I'm trying to get up early now." is fishing for compliments. I really don't see how the comment invited rudeness.

And kid or not, you shouldn't say things like that. Period. I mean, personally I wouldn't let my kid say that kind of stuff to people, especially when it was reall unprovoked. If I ever said something like that I woulda got popped.

But anyway.

Who here likes fried mushrooms? Those things are boss.
