She was one of my personal favorites. The whole idea of this uptight lady trying so hard to be a good leader to this tiny band of misfits in the middle of a dungeon was such an endearing idea to me. And then I found her to be quite nice when I got to know her as a character as well. I stopped playing before I finished her events but I still liked her a great deal.

that's a perfect way of describing it, now I'm laughing

I'm glad you like that X3.
To be honest I had no idea Kuruna was unpopular. I knew she wasn't one of the top bachelorettes when it came to popularity but I figured she was in the middle for most people. I didn't think a lot of people had her as one of their disliked bachelorette though.

You know, the kind of things you would expect a normal person to do when mentally shaken by such situations.
fandoms are generally terrible at bashing characters for being humans tbh
especially ladies
if kuruna was a hot dude people would not be calling her a racist hypocrite I can assure you
I like her, it's just that her design isn't as appealing as, say, Sakuya's.
Jake from RF2 is good looking and people still hate him for being racist

jake is also an obnoxious little rat and attractiveness is extremely objective especially when a haircut like that is involved
also his racism was completely unfounded, in rf3 at least there's a history behind it

Jake just suffered from RF2's general lack of dialog/background for all the villagers. If he was in a newer game I'm sure they'd provide more info on why he acts the way he does... I wonder if he has mommy issues. Maybe he got abandoned by his mother and that started him on his path towards hating humans. Or maybe she died of old age and eventually his sadness morphed into resentment toward the human race since he lost his mother because she was human. I think that'd be kinda interesting but I doubt Jake is old enough for that even though his dad is really old.

Female characters seem have it harder than male ones, unless they are the one that most female fans place themselves in as. If they're not? Then they're going to be scrutinized a good deal. A girl who favors logic and getting the goal done over emotions? What a heartless « Baaaa *glomp* »! A girl who actually sheds tears and acts like someone would in real life under the circumstances? Oh no, she's taking feminism a step backwards!
Not saying male characters don't get flak for stupid reasons (they do, quite a lot), but I've just seen it more with female characters. And it just may be my experience, but I've seen female fans do more bashing, especially if the female character that they don't insert themselves into shows non-sisterly (or even not that) interest in the totes hawt male main lead/dark horse/sexy villain.
/note that I by no means mean that if you dislike a female character that makes you silly. Female characters can be just as good and just as bad as male ones, nor does being a female and a fan makes you act like a jealous 10 year old.

I like Kuruna, and would probably marry her over some of the other bachelorettes. I think she does have a good bit to offer, and when I play 3 again, will likely court her at least. Maybe marry her, but I dunno between her, Sofia, and Daria. But I'm surprised that people don't like her more. I thought Carmen was the least liked, what with her fishing fetish and her humorous? yet squick-inducing relationship with Carlos.

you gotta admit Jake was pretty obnoxious though
like if he ever dropped it it'd be fine but he never develops out of being obnoxious
and his English via was terrible but then lol rf2

Oh, and Kuruna is older than Wells.
Something about this doesn't go well with me.
It's not her racist attitude or anything, it's just the fact that she looks, sounds, and acts much older than Micah. Not in a bad way, just not in a way that I feel she's attractive as a romantic partner to him.
What!? People don't like Jake!? His attitude just made me want to be his friend even more! xD That's just me.

I liked her a lot more than many of the bachelorettes. For me, the problem was that there were ladies that I found more interesting, so she kind of got put on the back burner. I always max out hearts before marrying, though, so I did court her, at least. I think that reason for her lower rankings is not so much unpopularity as a lack of absolute adoration. Many people liked her as a character, but few found particularly outstanding or endearing traits that made her soar above and beyond the rest. The problem wasn't as much with her as it was with the rest of the cast: the bachelorettes of RF3 were so damn crazy, and full of strange and unique tics and tendencies, that straight-line character like Kuruna would easily be forgotten amongst their antics.
She just wasn't special enough compared to the other girls, which isn't so much a flaw of her character as it is proof of the flaws of the others.

Have to agree with this.
And yes, mayday, that's a good way of putting it. She's a good character. I suppose she's just easily forgotten. I made sure to talk to her and Ondorus every day, though.
And I liked her much, much more than I liked Zaid.

Zaid was rather full of himself in my opinion... -.-
I liked Ondorus a lot, but going on the assumption that he's just as old as Kuruna if not older...

ondorus is 1 "unit of age" (equivalent year of human growth?) younger than kuruna, which is 20 actual years.
zaid brags a lot but i think he really just wants to be seen as cool and reliable and be valued by his community. all of his events end with him giving something to kuruna or ondorus instead of acting for his own satisfaction, which i read as him valuing other people's approval more than anything.
basically he shows off because he wants people to like him, not because he actually thinks that highly of himself.
jeez i think way too much about desert dorks
