Fire Emblem Awakening: Who's ready to start matchmaking?
Fire Emblem is basically a SRPG set in a medieval fantasy setting.LadyVolcarona wrote:I've never played any Fire Emblem games before
Can someone explain this to a « new farmer »,please
this looks so good ;_;
The series is famous for it's permadeath feature.
By which I mean that if a character looses all their HP they are gone for good in that file(unless you reload to a previous save).
The games tend to revolve around the struggles of a small army lead by a lord(who is main character).
The plots varry, but they tend to revolve around conflicts between nations, with one that tends to be very expansionist for one reason or another.
Combat is turn based. During your turn you move your units around the field and attack enemies, and during the enemy turn they do the same.
When initiating an attack, depending on if certain conditions are met, the enemy will counterattack your unit's attack, afterwhich the unit will attack again.
This is all done in a single move, and does work the other way around.
As stated there is permadeath so if one of your units' HP reaches 0 they die(or in some cases retreat, but just the same they can no longer be used in battle).
Units are divided into several classes(depending on the game), that fulfill various roles.
Many of these classes upon reaching lvl 10(or if certain other conditions are met) can promote their class to an even more powerful one.
Lastly, between battles is a preparation phase. You can prepare your units for the next fight and view support events.
Support events are special events between characters, as their bond grows through one way or another.
These give more insight into the characters, and in Awakening is key to pairing your units for marraige.

Lol sorry about that, didn't know it would be so big. (that is, indeed, what she said).Hisagiluv wrote:Ew, page stretch.
I'm crossing my fingers the bundle will be available on Amazon, because Gamestop charges me for APO shipping, and I don't need their seemingly exclusive artbook since I bought Knights of Iris off ebay. Also, I'll be nabbing the physical cartridge too. Wooo frivolous spending.
But yeah I hope so as well, too many good games coming out this year, so I can't be spending too much. But if the bundle is $200, then I'll be spending 250 on Fire Emblem stuff this coming February.

That will reduce the stretch on the page.
Why would you be spending $250 on Fire Emblem stuff?
The game comes with the bundle.
Though what I would like to know is it simply a digital copy installed on the 3DS or is it a physical copy?

From what I've read it's a digital copy, and I want the Character Book for preordering the physical copy!Osuchin wrote:You can edit your previous post and put a spoiler tag over the image.iloveharvestmoon123 wrote:Lol sorry about that, didn't know it would be so big. And about the $250, people believe this bundle will be $200 just like the Zelda 3DS bundle, and the game is $40, so with tax and all, $250 should be around what one should spend if they were a Fire Emblem fanatic like myself!
Yep, the bundle says "game pre-installed" on the box, meaning the game is already purchased and installed on the hardware from the eshop. Soooo anyone who wants a physical cartridge of the game along with the bundle needs to spend an extra $40. Essentially, you'll be double dipping on the software. Honestly, it's all fine by me, but I can understand how some people will be put off by it.
I just wish the bundle reveal was before the holidays instead of after >:I Ironically, I DID have at least $150 saved on my debit card in the hopes of the 3DS coming over. But then I spent it when January rolled around and I assumed it was too late for that kind of news.

Ahh, I bought a 3DS fairly recently. I wouldn't have purchased the bundle anyway, though, because I really wanted the XL. No regrets.
I will definitely be investing in a copy of the game, though. I'm kind of afraid of the return of Support events after playing Shadow Dragon. Having no emotional attachments/ships between any of the characters made me much less OCD about not letting people die. I sucked at the first US Fire Emblem because I'd have to replay each chapter like 8 times, and they'd always die because I'd get lazy right before the completion of the battle. ;________________;
In Shadow Dragon, I could objectively pick the best characters, and just use all of my other recruits as free weapons sources. I only had to think about support from the strategic advantage perspective, and only had to focus on leveling up certain characters. That way, I'd spend exp on characters so that they would GET BETTER at what they do, rather than so that they wouldn't die when I forced them to follow their friends around for conversational purposes.
Ahh, but I guess that as long as there're save points like in Shadow Dragon, or at the very least those extra maps that I could use for level grinding, I'll be okay. I think I'll be taking the non-casual path, though, after all.
So hyped. :D The art is beeaaauutiful, although I will always miss the fluid 2D sprites of the old days.
And to all of you that are destroying their wallets over this: I'm so sorry, and thank you for supporting this fantastic francise.

I may need to buy this it's looking more and more fantastic. ;w;

I'm glad I stumble upon this thread. I'm having second thoughts whether I'm going to try this game, now that you guys break down what this game contains, I put this game in my must have list. :D
Question though, do I have to play the previous games of this franchise to understand this game more thoroughly or this game is a good starting point?

Not really, for the most part the stories are in the same world, but on seperate parts of the world. Some games are sequels to others, but Awakening seems to be the beginning of a different arc. There are some references to the other FE, such as there are some references to Marth and his trails and that Paris is a decendant of Ike from Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn, but for the most part they are explained enough that their role doesn't hinder the story if you are new to the series.cinnamon_yuki wrote:I'm glad I stumble upon this thread. Thanks for the reply. Can't wait to play this game to! How would you rate the difficulty for new players of this series?Osuchin wrote:Not really, for the most part the stories are in the same world, but on seperate parts of the world.
