^Come on, now those are your opinions about AWL. Don't say it like they are facts.
AWL has a story. The difference is that this time you don't have to save a bunch of little sprites or a silly Goddess. It's about the life of a farmer and his family. Personally, I like that it deals with death and loss unlike the other games in the series where people breathe rainbows Not that I mind the rainbows, but it does tire me after a while
And technically all HM villages are underpopulated.

And I love me some plot in mah video games, but that it the absolute last thing I am looking for or expect out of an HM game lol.

The AWL bachelorettes were cuties though...especially Muffy. What a sweetheart. I felt so bad for her in AnWL. She loves so genuinely that she gets used all the time

Me too! D: Muffy I love you I'm sorry <3 <3
I didn't like AWL though, to be honest. I did miss the festivals, the village did feel pretty empty (less so in DS/Cute thankfully), and while I liked that the plot centered more on life and death... the game mechanics and glitches kind of... made me want to break things

I loved the idea of raising a child, but the days were so slow and tedious that even with the shortened years I barely made it to the birth of the child. I was rather impatient at the time of playing though, so I'm pretty sure if I went back and played the game again I'd probably like it more.
I loved the girls though! Muffy and Nami were wonderful bachelorettes and so interesting. I got ninjamanced by Celia though

She was pretty cool but also... a little too eager I guess?
But compared to the handheld games AWL is not bad by any means! ToTT still holds my "worst HM game" title

Any game after Friends of Mineral Town was released.

Really? Now that's a bit harsh don't you think?
Please correct me if I'm wrong but it seems like you're either really hard to please or very nostalgia biased.

Agreed. I'd say that HM DID go downhill in certain aspects after M/FoMT, but they were NOT necessarily bad like: "OMG, these are terrible, don't play them, ugh." In fact, the new HMs have a lot of things to offer that the old HMs didn't. If you're talking about the characters personality depth and simplicity, you are correct. But, in terms of art and mechanics, the newer ones are superior than the oldies (even though I kinda dislike how cutesy the art style has become).

^Well, if you had been limited to movie-based games like the Lion King and Pokemon, then you'd understand how to an 11 year old IoH was a « Harvest Goddess »-send.
Pokemon is NOT movie-based. People often think it is because in English everything came out at the same time, but in Japan the first games were made before the anime.
As for Harvest Moon, there is no game that I completely hate (unlike for Rune Factory... uuurgh ToD), but there was not a lot about Two Towns that I liked. I especially hated the randomness of the stores, the fact that they're closed on rainy days (does that even make sense?) and how you're limited to one uprgade per season. I like to progress based on my skills, not on my patience. How long would it take to get everything? I gave up at the end of year 2, after I got married.

^Would you mind telling me why do you hate ToD? It's actually my favorite RF...

I might have liked ToD if I had not tried to play it as if it were a Rune Factory game.
Being limited in your movements (the damn golem dying after he takes like 5 steps...) and auto-farming ruined the game for me. Also, in all the other RF games, farming and fighting go hand in had. In this one, farming is basically pointless, since you can just buy strong equipment anyway. I was expecting the equipment you make yourself to be stronger than what you can just buy; turns out it was just a big waste of time. And the girl constantly telling you what time it is is very annoying.

is everybody forgetting about STH??? the only harvest moon where you can fail epically!
I would say my next worst was none. STH was the worst by a mile, in my opinion.

I can't say I hate any of them, but the worst for me would have to be DS. Not only for the glitches, but I didn't like the feel of the game. Something like that. Its's kinda hard to explain. Hrm~

Hahaha I was just being harsh. Not totally serious but I am probably biased to the games I played as a child. I think the worst Harvest Moon games are the DS ones. Some of the new games do have new and interesting ideas but I can't particularly get into them.

I can see where you're coming from, because the Mineral Town games were my absolute favorites in the series and getting the subpar, glitchy DS games afterward made things 10x worse. But looking at games like ToT, AP, and ANB, I wouldn't say HM is out of good games recently. Especially since the franchise created an entire spinoff series. RF is pretty great.
But your opinions are your opinions. Hopefully another HM game will impress you the way the old ones did.

Yeah but... no festivals... and the interaction you could have with other characters was so limited and... boring
And like I said... gameplay felt pointless because there wasn't much you could actually do with your money, couldn't upgrade your house, farm, etc.... or buy furniture, or whatever...
So few fun things you could unlock...
Also, the game world was small and rather ugly IMO... no fun places to go or explore
And for some reason, no matter how hard I tried, I could never, ever get any of the bachelorette's heart events to trigger. Oh well...
