I just couldn't get into SI. I don't know what it was about the game since the crop system didn't bother me as much as I feared it would and it's not like many Harvest Moons have fast beginnings.

TOTT is so boring after marriage.
My order of likes:
IoH (It was my first game, I'm so biiiaaassseeed)
TOTT (I really enjoyed it. But it gets boring after marriage...)
DS ( Glitchy. And 60 sprites? Damn)
SI ( Didn't hate it. But didn't like it either.)

IoH had to be the worst HM game for me. I still have the game, but I don't even think I picked it up after I got married. I had no problem with any past games, and the future games are pretty good I wish GB had more improved character art, and something about the house bothered me...the inside of it...

I would say my next worst was none. STH was the worst by a mile, in my opinion.

My guess is that not a lot of people played it.

But STH is actually one of my favorite games in the series. The characters are among the most likeable and interesting in the series. They aren't shallow people who say the same thing every day. You can't marry, but you CAN romance the ladies in it, and when you do it is quite literally the sweetest romantic dialogue. While some other entries are just eye roll worthy. (BTN/Friends of Mineral Town, despite being very good has this ugh)


My personal least favorite is AWL. The game just drags. I am not a fan of Harvest Moons with longer days. Harvest Moon is addicting when I get to see constant progress on my farm. Growing crops and milking cows isn't interesting on its own so when you draw it out over 24 minute long days it feels even less interesting than it is in real life. On top of this, I liked hardly any of the characters, I didn't find the layout of the town to be interesting at all and it was in fact too small. So for a game with 24 minute days there wasn't actually a lot to do after you finished your farm work. No festivals, which was also a poor idea for a game with such long days.

The highlights of the game were definitely your kid, the hybridization of crops, and the animals. However, the paper-thin characters, lack of things to do, and the agonizingly slow pace is what makes me consider this:

"The worst game in the series."



I personally would like for the series to have more interesting characters as that is one of the most important aspects of Harvest Moon games for me. I am extremely tired of the "Says only one thing every heart level" formula. Which is coincidentally one of the reasons why I like STH so much--they actually say different things.

Personally, I thought it was pretty pointless that they had animals with genders, since cows and chickens were the only animal you were allowed to breed. It didn't let you have female sheep, or horses... and no male goat, so you couldn't breed the one goat in the game, and are forced to kill it off after it stopped producing milk... ugh. Damn.

I like the genderless hermaphrodite/asexual animals 1000x better.

It also kinda annoyed me that you couldn't see what level of friendship you were at with people...

In AWL, you can tell if someone is your friend if they turn their head towards you when they're walking down the street. If they keep walking, and you go past them, and they don't do anything, that means you need to keep trying!

My least favorite games of the series have to be IoH and DS.

I hated how everything was touch related in IoH, and since I don't really buy into the whole touch screen/motion control gimicks, it bothered me greatly. HMDS was terrible, those glitches and the whole sprite collecting made it painful back then.

Controls: IOH (I liked it )
The time thing: AWL (framerate was just fine...for me)
Shipping things: GrB (I liked the game too)
Others: Innocent Life (I hated it for no reason, bored...)
Harvest Moon is great period. with another unnecessary period.

HM:DS/DS CUTE was an over saturated glitchy mess. The graphics weren't pleasant on the eyes at all, and I found the farming system to just be annoying. Not to mention the watered down personalities... I could go on for a very long time lol.
