Alisa x Philip from ToTT (since that is the only guy she will actually marry)

Yeeeep I'd keep all the rival couples exactly the same. They were paired together for a reason after all. I'm sure the makers of the game know these characters well enough to know who they'd truly be happiest with. And it is clear that all of these marriage candidates would be happiest with... the MC XD. But their set rival is the second best option (seriously though almost all the characters seem way happier when married to the MC). The only thing I would change is that the MC you didn't pick acted like Yue from RF2. Mark/Chelsea would be the back up spouse so no one with a rival was stuck alone if the player married their potential spouse.

Shea and WP are special so I get that they'd only marry the MC. Because obviously the MC is the most special of everyone everywhere.

Nah I wouldn't change anyone around. If I had no idea who the rival couples were I may not guess these were the set couples but since I know what the real couples are I am fine with the couples staying the same. I understand that it can be fun to image who else could be paired up though :].

The only match I was ever a bit skeptical of, seemed a bit dysfunctional to me, was Sabrina x Vaughn.
In IoH, after Sabrina and Vaughn come back from Mineral Town with a baby, in the house Sabrina's dialogue mentions Vaughn and her father fighting all the time and she "can't stand it!" What I'm wondering is why Vaughn and Sabrina's dad haven't come to an agreement, if not for Sabrina's sake then for the child that is living in their house? Am I to believe they fight in front of the child? It's just not in Vaughn's nature to be so combative, should I say. That confrontational.
It was just a strange coupling; none of their heart events are very endearing either, not like Denny and Lanna's or Elliot and Julia's (I ship them).
Personally, I'd like to have seen more suitable candidates for those two, maybe Sabrina with a more confident and sweet fellow like Denny or Pierre, and Vaughn with a more serious, but still lovely girl like Natalie or Lily.

So Sabrina x Pierre (because Denny is mine) and Vaughn x Natalie is how I would set it up.

Yeah IoH Vaughn and Sabrina are certainly not the best of the couples. And actually they used to be the only couple I wasn't really sold on. Buuuuuut then they came out with the puzzle spin off Frantic Farming. For some reason certain couples were pretty heavily implied to like each while other weren't. Sabrina and Vaughn were one of the couples who were hinted to like each other and it was supah cute. Now my least favorite is Denny and Lanna. I am still fine with them as a couple they are just the one I like less than all the others. That is also mainly because of Frantic Farming. Denny and Lanna were together quite a bit and they made Lanna a bit too demanding and immature in that game. Really at times I thought the puzzle game had better character interaction than the actual HM game it was based around.
