What are the main causes of data corruption?

I've had a lot of problems with losing data in the past. On this game I'm probably onto my fourth file now, maybe fifth, I don't know. This time I'm using file number 2 as a backup though, which helps. I also avoid hiring Sprite teams (fishing in particular) because they tend to trigger weird glitches. The thing is, what are the main causes of data getting corrupted? Does saving and reloading frequently confuse the game data or something? Because I married Keria and had to save and reload a lot of times in the mines, to save stamina or reload if I fell too far down a pitfall. I also dig around at the excavation site a lot and then sell the jewelry to Van. This process requires a lot of saving and reloading. Is that risky? :?
Plus, I've also heard that saving in the part with the four mine entrances (forgot what it's called, the bit where Carter and Flora hang around) causes corruption of data. I don't know if it's true.
I don't use cheat devices with the game so that can't be a cause. :)

The first bit of the mine never causes any problems for me, but that may just be my game. Saving and reloading I have heard can trigger it but I never go far enough into the mines to really need to. The main one I think is turning off before it's finished saving.

Okay, thanks. (: I never turn it off before it's finished saving so I guess I'm pretty safe. This game is rammed with glitches though, so you never know. :/

I'd say it might be because of utilizing glitches, unsuccessful data saving (turning off when the game is saving, etc), freezing up, or any combination of those. It's just pretty much random, really, so cross your fingers and hope that it won't happen again.

If you get the v1.1, then you'll get less bug ridden game and possibly less data corruption, too.

Have you ever knocked it whilst it's saving?
