Has anyone else noticed the lack of red meat in this game?
Seriously, go look at the recipe list. NO BEEF OR PORK OR CHICKEN AT ALL. Only fish. Most of the dishes seem to only be made of vegetables anyways. Was this orchestrated somehow, or did they just not want to kill cows and chickens and lambs for their meat? And what exactly does Takakura do with the animals that die on our farm, hmm?
I just want to know who else has noticed this.
((first post yayyy))

Hello~
Welcome to the site
Of course, you won't eat your chicken or cow, right?
They are like my family when I play Harvest Moon
I always love to have a lot of animals to take care not to eat them
I bet if Harvest Moon have a feature like that, it will be a weird game
Anyway, you played as a farmer not a beef buncher ^^"
For Takakura..
If he is a good guy, he will have them in the graveyard (Are there any graveyard..? No?)
But if he is that kind of guy, then probably, he will eat them
/killed

Rainbowcupcakes is right, it's a farming game not a butchering game. Animals raised to produce eggs, milk and wool killed in their prime would probably make acceptable meat, but in real life dairy cows and beef cows for example are raised very differently to boost the quality of the product being harvested. A dairy cow which died of old age wouldn't have very good meat. Although the game designers could have maybe had an option to kill your animals before they died, I think the game is a bit too child-friendly for that. With all the petting and brushing you can do to your animals, it's pretty clear that the game wants you to nurture and cherish your animals and appreciate them for their product. If you want a farm where you can kill your animals for meat, play Minecraft!

Makes perfect sense to me. It's a child friendly game, so of course they're not going to have you kill your farm animals for a recipe.
Most people who play Harvest Moon regard their cows, chickens, sheep, etc. as family, so that would be pretty weird and cruel to kill and eat them... at least, to me it would be. You're supposed to take care of and love and nuture them.
That too.

That sounds... interesting.CinnamonToast wrote:I'm just going to add that in the Shepherds Crossing games you can butcher your animals and make meat dishesI actually kind of enjoyed it because it added an interesting balance to the game and made it more challenging. But I guess I'm a twisted individual \0/

I had to look Shepherd's Crossing up on Google just because you said that, haha. Never heard of the game before, but it looks kind of interesting.Muffy Princess Moon wrote:That sounds... interesting.CinnamonToast wrote:I'm just going to add that in the Shepherds Crossing games you can butcher your animals and make meat dishesI actually kind of enjoyed it because it added an interesting balance to the game and made it more challenging. That would be weird... like you just accidentally hit your cow with an axe and little pieces pop off in perfectly rounded beef patties. Ew, haha.color-freak1 wrote:I think it would be funny if you could hit your cow with an ax and in your hands pops a burgerXD
