Cam is an illegitimate child of Howard's wife and another man, and Laney is actually adopted by Howard because he thought his wife could not bear him a child. The wife ran from home away once she learned that Howard was once a transvestite, but she passed away when her horse cart fell down from a cliff during a thunderstorm. Cam is actually a cynical « Tulip » who has a severe oedipus complex plotting for revenge because Howard fooled his mother and could not protect her life. He then lives with Howard and works as a florist, his mom's dream career, while waiting for a perfect chance to murder him. Laney actually knew about Cam's malicious intent when she accidentally heard Cam talking to himself in his room, but she did not want to tell her father because she's in love with Cam. Laney then asked Reina's help to give her plants which could surpress Cam's memory about his past. She heard that Reina is a genius botanist who was expelled from scientist community because she has conducted dangerous researches and experiments, and one of them is memory alteration. Laney planned to keep Cam under her control by putting the plants inside her cooking everyday. Reina agreed to help Laney under a condition that Laney must exchange them with flower seeds, which are unavailable in Konohana, a condition which she gladly accepted. Laney steals flower seeds from Cam's shop regularly and exchanges it with Reina's plants since then.
