What can you tell me about Fire Emblem Awakening?

All other video games not related to the main farming series - Pokemon, Stardew Valley, My Time at Portia, and other indie-developed games.

Since your interest is already peaked, I would recommend getting Awakening if you aren't TOO big on strategy games as a first entry point into Fire Emblem. If you LOVE strategy games then you'll definitely want to pick up a different Fire Emblem game as a first entry. The map design leaves a LOT to be desired for; most of them are just really flat. Like literally, flat. The final battle takes place on a completely flat map even. The inside levels are a little better, but not by much. I mean, even if you do like strategy games a lot, it can still be enjoyable on the harder difficulties but again the maps leave a LOT to be desired.

I bought this when it first came out.. I haven't touched it since.
I got ~7 hours in and just wasn't interested anymore. I didn't really enjoy the storyline much, and I was frustrated with trying to get some characters closer together but one always dying since I had barely used him/her before.
Does the storyline get better? Should I restart and have more of an open mind? I stopped in the chapter
Spoiler:
Lucina is introduced as Chrom's. ya know.
I have played a bit of Fire Emblem for the GBA and I really enjoyed the story of that one.

FE:A makes it really easy to level new characters since you can just buy a few reeking boxes, go to a low level map, and open one there and farm xp until they are up to level. Pairing them up with stronger units also makes this MUCH easier. The boxes are more expensive though if you play on the harder difficulties.

Personally, I also found the storyline to be really weak. And personally I found it to get even worse later on. But I also can be really... critical of the storyline in video games and maybe others would be able to enjoy it more. Though I do not think it was better than some of the older ones that I have played. So I'd say, if you don't like what you HAVE played so far, I doubt you'd like it if you tried it again. Unless the main issue was trying to pair up weaker units. Then just abuse reeking boxes and the broken pairing system and you'll be good. :)
