Connecting Cute and FoMT?

I own the boy version of Harvest Moon DS and Friends of Mineral Town. After a few unsuccessful attempts at trying to connect them, I realised that the DS version is by Rising Star who apparently removed the connection feature.
Recently, I ordered Harvest Moon DS Cute so that my younger sister could use my old game. But the bachelors aren't really to my fancy (even the new one Skye, he's just meh). I was hoping to connect the Cute version to FoMT so that I could unlock the Mineral Town characters but I am unsure as to whether this would work.
I checked FoMT and the version I have is by Natsume not Rising Star but I am curious as to whether HMDS Cute is by Natsume as well.
Long story short, would I be able to connect these two games?

Where do you live? From my knowledge Rising Star is in charge or translating and distributing the European versions of the game, which tells me that you have a European copy of DS. And I'm assuming you have the North American version of FoMT since you mentioned it being from Natsume. That may have something to do with it.

I'm not familiar with the connection mechanics if this is the case, and I wouldn't want to tell you to buy the localized version of whichever game is incorrect for where you live but that may be the cause of your problem. I'd do a little more research before buying another copy though!

I looked into it a little. Rising Star didn't do a European version of Cute apparently. In fact, I have never come across a female version of any of the Harvest Moon games here where I live. The distributor of the game is Natsume according to Amazon.
