Well, there is marriage. One of the older trailers shows the male MC getting married under a tree.

HOWEVER. As far as we know, its not required and you can even decide to ignore it.

There really isn't a lot of information about this game out. Not enough to woo me anyway.
If someone does purchase the game, can you give a review of your personal opinion?

My OPINION, is that this game seems to be very limited. Sure you can talk to people, forage, and sell stuff in your store... maybe even upgrade or customize your store... but I am not going to pay 40 dollars for just... that. If there is MORE to this game, that I am missing, please do fill me in!

Getting close to virtual characters isn't quite enough to pull me in.

It...it's E10+? That is definitely unexpected. xD Well, if Kirby can get the same rating...

I'm a bit annoyed that the game is being grouped with Harvest Moon since it's not being made by Marvelous. I'm sure that it will bolster sales, but...I don't think Wada was going for that, considering he founded a new company and all.

And there is nothing wrong with being annoyed with it, but...I just wouldn't go into this game expecting anything different, in that aspect? Also, there are many ways to use your imagination in HM to suit your needs.

Overall: There is nothing wrong with wanting something else or just being irritated at something; but you just have to put a realistic view on it. Japan is rather conservative in it's views, and the HM series probably won't allow homosexual option for a very long time, if at all. And since this is probably not going to be that much different from HM in certain aspects (minus the farming and probably a bit more community and shop based), if there is romance, it's probably gonna be hetero based.
HOWEVER. As far as we know, its not required and you can even decide to ignore it.
But I don't think (with the exception of AWL and AnWL) you were ever required to get married or romance any of the characters in the HM games? That's generally their focus, but you were never required to get hitched.

Yeah besides AWL and RF2 it was never required, but it sure has been pushed as a big feature as of late. Twas once a nice perk, now its a huge chunk of the game. Theres nothing wrong with that, but it bothers some that HM has become more of a marriage sim than a farming sim.

I honestly don't care either way though.

I'm still being a big ol' fan of the game. I didn't expect them to put that HM logo on their but I don't mind. He is the father of HM and this game is like his new baby so if they want to talk about it being part of the HM family I can work with that metaphor X3. Besides if the game does well it may be able to continue to grow and eventually stand on it's own legs.

I am really looking forward to the game. I would have liked it to come out in September but oh well. October is not that bad of a placeholder.

Wow though they sure do like Mika. She has appeared more often than any other character in the promo stuff.

Also fixed some bios using those new pictures and I added the name of a previously unnamed character.
Spoiler:

Name: Carl
Info: He can tell time without a watch, apparently.

Bah if you look at the bottom left of the magazine in this picture they have a screen shot with the black haired/red eyes girl talking but I can't read what her name is DX.

interesting. especially since it seems we've only been shown a few boys but a whole slew of girls. ether they're holding back a lot of male characters or most of these females are not marriageable.

with what I had seen, I had no reason to think it'd be in the game. for almost every other game this had been a large aspect mentioned and shown in the main trailer of the game, and shown off in other videos, where as this one, we got what? apparently one shot of the boy getting married under a tree? seems odd to me for it to be left out of the main English trailer.

and sure, I can use my imagination as best I can but that doesn't stop the game from pulling you away from that and almost forcing you to be put back in that stupid box. it's the reason I had to quit playing ANB. it got to the point that it was making me sick. I'm tired of basically having to abstain from relationships in HMs just so I can avoid it, especially in a game built around relationships with the townspeople. if I'm forced to make friends with people as the main gameplay mechanic yet still pushed into a heterosexual box (ie, like in AWL where if you made no effort to be in a relationship you were forced into marrying Rock or Celia or the game ended. in other games particular characters would get weirdly close to you even if you didn't hardly talk to them, not to mention getting asked out on dates (ie, ToTT) when you have 0 interest in that character and having to go with them lest you piss them off and ruin your relationship with someone you potentially need for a later point in the gameplay) I cannot tell you how pissed off I will be. it's easy to just ignore or have no real issue with that sort of thing when you're straight and just not interested in the characters because it becomes a bit sweet, like the nerdy kid in school who just has the biggest crush on you and he's such a doll but you're already with someone/already like someone else but when you're gay, it's just another slap in the face, that this is what you're supposed to be, this is how it's supposed to be, and anything else isn't allowed/isn't ok and I don't like playing games that make me hate myself.

I know Japan is very conservative. I don't expect gay marriage in their games and not once have I said I do. I said I was enjoying thinking there was NO MARRIAGE period meaning I'm free to be myself without being reminded that I'm expected to marry a male character if I'm playing a female. if there is no heterosexual marriage, it evens the playing field as far as gameplay is concerned the same way it would if there was gay marriage in it. ether way I'm free to play as I want without having that looming box over my head constantly.

I don't mean to rant(especially on something I know we're not exactly supposed to talk about on fogu, which don't even get me started on that), but now I'm frustrated that not only was I wrong and this game will most likely be no different and have the exact same problems as HM but that no one seems to understand what I'm trying to say without getting all rant-y and over explaining myself.

actually, I'd play even $50 for that. ANB had so much I couldn't get into year two because I was way too overwhelmed with all the « Puppy Doodoo » I had to get done. I deal with enough of that irl and don't need it from my games. HM used to be a nice calming game I could play in bed while I tried to wind down after a long day. now HM has become thing thing that makes my day long and tedious. I long for an HM game to take us back to a simpler life, as that was the point of the whole series in the first place.

@ Googa - Oooh I liked the black haired girl.. she's cute! :D I couldn't read her name though unfortunately either D: Tried to blow it up in Photoshop to no avail. The new guy isn't bad looking either. I like his long hair~

Yeah I think she's cute too. Well maybe someone on Fogu will win the contest and get the booklet then they can tell us what it says XD.

You are right. Wada said previously that there was only going to be a very small batch of marriage candidates and he would try to make the few available good. The majority of characters are not going to be bachelors/bachelorettes though.

this will ether be really good or really bad. ether those few characters will be the only decently rounded characters and if you want to avoid them to avoid the extremely annoying nudge-nudge-wink-wink-he's-a-good-baby-making-husband-ness you end up with the bland scraps that are the ignored townspeople with next to no story(although with this story being based around making friends with the villagers and learning their story this seems unlikely) and constantly repeated phrases OR the whole romance and marriage thing will be a sort of after thought (as far as work put into it goes) and the importance of it in the gameplay will actually be minimal.

hopefully it's the latter.

~faith in the game has been slightly restored~

Yeah I think the few marriage candidate thing will work out. Wada is pretty happy with them so I'm not worried. Here's one of the things that was said on this topic:
Additionally, romancing a villager is an option, and Wada was happy he got to focus on just crafting a few romance options so he could put a lot of thought into them and make them all standout.
And it was also said that:
Wada crafted the characters and story scenarios for a year.

So I'm thinking that every main character got just as much attention whether they are a marriage candidate or not. And it won't be like HM where there is sort of this obvious difference between marriage candidates and villagers. I think it will be more like everyone is a villager and it just so happens that you can romance a few.

Thank you Bluie :].

Yeah after reading that my general interest for the game's gotten better  I'm looking forward to seeing the fruits of Wada's labour lol.

I'm just wondering if you can be doing more than one story at one time. I don't really care about getting married the first time around. I plan on doing Ember's story first because he's so bloody adorable. But doing someone else's story at the same time on the side would be interesting.
