Good luck!
You might need to put the Divine Protection out for sale before he comes...I don't remember for sure..or maybe you have to be in your shop when Helena comes in at her regular time...just can't remember. For the second event listed above, it has to be in your inventory. After that, I normally keep it out on a table, since I think you have to leave it in your shop if you want to speak to the Harvest « Harvest Goddess ».The Scholar 1 (Intro)
Requirements: Own the Divine Protection key item
Starting Location: Your Shop
Time: During shop hours
Participants: Helena, Shinji
A scholarly man arrives in town and immediately comes into your shop, apparently
mistaking Helena for someone else.
Note: After this event, Shinji moves in to your village.
The Scholar 2
Requirements: Exit shop with Divine Protection in your inventory
Starting Location: Shop area
Time: During shop hours
Participants: Shinji, Helena
Shinji is startled to see the Divine Protection in your possession, and wants it
for his own.
Note: Even if you choose to give it to him, Pochica won't allow you to.
Good luck!

Thank you so much for the guide, Firehawke! Sadly, I've tried all of that and he still hasn't arrived. I've also run into a problem with Dexter's arrival since I already bought the Toy item (two of them), placed it in my shop, waited, ran around with it, I've tried everything and still no Shinji or Dexter!
Do you have to befriend Helena or Bobby before they arrive? I don't know what to do anymore, they were the reason I wanted this game.

You might have to...I'm not sure. I've had some trouble unlocking characters, too. When I have times like that, I just keep running my shop, switching out the key items I have for sale, and running around different areas (including in to buildings) to try and get different cut scenes. Question...have you done the cut scene where the mayor (don't remember his name) asks for a tin can? If you haven't, go into his house and talk to him (think you have to do it before 3) to trigger the cut scene. I kept wondering who would want a tin can! Do you have the balloon yet???
I think some scenes can't be triggered until certain key items have been purchased from the 2PM guy...and I think his stuff is random. Too bad we can't save right before we buy stuff from him!

Thank you so much again! I finally got Shinji, I don't know what it is that I did but he appeared after I entered my shop (after foraging and talking to neighbors) again when it was raining. Sadly, Dexter is nowhere in sight. About the tin can, I'm pretty sure I did the event already, as well as having the Red Balloon and the other items needed to get Dexter (Flower Baby, Toy x2 etc.). I also just had Jacques arrive and I have no idea why or how. I'm starting to think I have to get Mika to arrive in order to get Dexter since she's the only bachelorette I'm missing, but I don't think that makes any sense.Firehawke wrote:You might have to...I'm not sure. Yea, Pochica doesn't say that in the English version, but it isn't exactly very nice either; It called Steven "idiotic" during Steven's introduction scene. Felt unnecessary and kind of rude.
I finally gave the game a try and I don't think it is that bad of a game, but it does have a lack of focus. The instruction manual is only a fold-out piece of paper and the Help section inside the house is a little better, but still doesn't explain all that much. I don't even know what the icons on the ledger mean that well, and the icons are really small on my normal 3DS. Not everyone has a 3DSXL. Do I have a goal in the game? I've no idea.
I think I lost my Flour too. Rebecca wanted me to stock gourmet ingredients for cooking, so I had bought some Flour from the peddler and set it out, but then decided to do some rearranging the next morning. I put all my placed items back into my inventory but somehow the Flour went MIA. I probably could of just reload my save game and have it return, but I didn't think about that at the time! Oops. Hopefully the peddler will have it for sale again.
I have been enjoying the stories that have taken place. I want to figure out why the Scarecrow is stuck from moving... and why is Bobby so grouchy.... and Yumi is so sad... ooh mysteries...

About emeralds....I think just about anybody buys them.
About expansions...
You need to go into Cling & Clang's shop and request an expansion. Make sure you buy wood whenever you can from the 2PM merchant...you will need it! I think the different expansion options unlock with friendship levels, so keep buying things from them, talking to them, & selling them things.
They are open in the morning and when you request a shop expansion, your shop is closed for the day and the day is automatically done. It's so worth it...I love rearranging things with each new expansion!
Good luck!!!
Totally different topic...is there any way to increase your chances of finding special fruit??? I'm only missing the orange one.

Any other european players who had preordered it? Seems to be realeased on 20th february for us.
Reading the bad reviews surprised me a lot. But as Grand Bazaar is the HM I enjoyed the most, I think giving this game a chance is a good idea.
(Plus RF4 have been cancelled for EU players >_<).
Anyway I would be curious to hear how people feel about this game a few months after the realease and first-look disappointment.

I need serious help. Trying to unlock the Harvest « Harvest Goddess » up in the cave. Have the Divine Protection. Have Shinji's friendship up high enough to get the tea party event (don't know if it matters or not). Gone into the cave all hours of the day. Read online that it works best when it's raining. So since it rains a lot that's not been a problem. He's never there. Yes, I've got the Divine Protection with me. What else do I need to do to unlock him?
Please don't tell me I have a glitch. I'm in month 4, really don't want to start over.
My sister has the game too and already unlocked him so we thought we knew what was needed. But I just can't get him in my game. Help please.

I'd suggest putting it on the shop display for a day or so. Leave the shop, walk around a bit. Then, at the start of the next day, take it with you again and see what happens. It wouldn't hurt, at least. And you never know, maybe that'll be enough to get everything rolling.Peach_Tea wrote:I need serious help. Trying to unlock the Harvest « Harvest Goddess » up in the cave.
