Even if this was a person in real life whose voice really sounds like that it would still really annoy me. It's not like I dislike the character (or person) any less, it's just their voice. There is absolutely nothing wrong with that.
Even then, dislike is a strong word. I don't like it but I don't dislike it, however, I'm less than neutral about it. So on a scale of zero to ten it's a four, I guess. It's just that one line "I want to hold is haaaaaaaaand" that makes me go like "meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeh" But even then it's not like I'm going to hear that often enough for it to be a problem.
Frey's voice... I'm not getting used to. I'd probably have to hear some different lines before I could change my mind. Maybe the clips they have up now just aren't doing her justice. Kiel's voice is a different story. "I can feel my face turing red..." it's adorkable now which sort of seems like it fits his personality... though I'm not sure if Kiel is the adorkable type.
I don't understand the idea of a fake voice. You mean like Microsoft Sam? She doesn't sound like a Vocaloid.
She doesn't do the 'sexy baby' thing, either (thank « Harvest Goddess »)

No, I think they mean like how it sounds to...voice acted?
Not natural.
You know like really bad English Dubs.
Though, I'm not sure since I think she sounds fine. :P

It's as slowpoke says, not natural, but it's pretty much only the first one and the second one that sound very unnatural to me. I understand that for a video game/anime they're going to have to act it up or else it just sounds bland, but there is a point where they over act. Like I said though, I'm waiting until I hear more of her voice before I say that it's a bad voice indefinitely. As someone from Xseed already mentioned, something along the lines of their voice clips not doing them justice. Once I hear it in game, I may love it!... Or I may not and just learn to deal with it. So I shall wait.
I'm not asking anyone to agree with me, I'm just stating my opinion.

Spoiler:
Why are people so upset over others not liking Frey's voice? I mean, it's not anything personal to Frey's VA, XSeed, or anyone with a similar voice like hers; we just don't like it for whatever reason? Nobody is throwing a fit over it, from what I've seen, either. It's just most seem rather not crazy over it, which we can live through but also have the right to have an opinion on?
Nobody who had criticized Frey's voice (on this thread) ever once said that something on the lines of "she sounds too girly and thus can't fight." Or at least, I didn't specifically see any. There have been criticisms over the feminine/girly factor, but not whether or not she could fight or not.
And that (the criticism of the high pitched/feminine voice), ~probably~ has to do with a little bit of the fact that Frey is, while her own character in her own right, also partly fused as a representative of the player. Now, this can be argued a little because of RF's current trend to make more vocal/independent character for the MCs and less of the "silent protagonists," but that may or may not explain why more people are critical of Frey's higher pitched voice versus the other bachelorettes; Frey is a playable character so people are going to be wanting things they can either identify with or just want a little in their "game selves" and thus may be more critical about it.
I really doubt it has anything to do with hating people with higher voices, since majority of the girls have rather high pitched voices and very few have spoken disappointment on the rest of those. Also, it can't be the rationalization that "girly gals can't be fighters" because no person who has expressed disappointment in Frey's voice has said that. Only two people who made assumptions of the reasoning of others disliking her voice, said anything like that on this forum/thread/whatever.
Of course, everyone has different reasons over why the like/dislike a thing, but that's probably one explanation that I can think of why Frey may be getting a little more heat versus some of the other girls.
EDIT: Not trying to upset anyone, but I'm genuinely confused why some seem really offended about Frey being one of the more disappointed voice results and people's reasons for disliking it.

I was responding to what Mecha-Lollipop said about people with girly voices being capable of fighting. I was a bit drawn back that that's even.. a thing? Are people saying that anywhere?
I actually get more annoyed by people saying RF3 Raven had a better voice because it's clearly OOC to me, and the more I hear it the more I hate it, but I understand people like what they're familiar with and that's probably where it's coming from? but on an objective level. come on. the tone of her voice.
I don't really think I sound like Frey in either language versions but it doesn't bother me. Maybe I have broken ears and everyone else is hearing Tomoko Kaneda or something but to me her dub voice sounds the same as every other voice.

^This.
I have nothing against Raven's new VA other than that she isn't the old VA, which isn't a game breaker anyway, just a minor gripe. And since I never heard Raven's Japanese voice it's not like I had anything to compare her to in RF3. That was just her voice. You might find it OOC, but from a standalone perspective it never seemed like a bad fit to me. Since I built my interpretation of her in part around how she sounded, it's actually the tone of her new VA that sounds OOC to me. Not meaning to bash on it. It would be unreasonable too want XSeed to get the same actor and the girl they got did do a good job. I won't mind it once I'm used to it... I think.

There's a side-by-side comparison between Toona's voice (JP) and Raven's voice (RF3) side-by-side here
then go listen to the RF4 clips again and you can see why XSeed went with the voice they did. It's much closer to how she sounded originally.
But I'm not one to talk because I never played RF3 in english and all I know about the dub is from youtube clips. But if I only played the dub I'd have a very different opinion on her character. So I think the RF3 dub really messed up.
Hopefully the same problem doesn't happen with Kiel, I thought it was Arthur who'd get the Mandark voice (not really but still xD) but people might think he's more nerdy now? I mean, he is kinda nerdy, character-wise. But the dub gives off a different/stronger impression than Hiro Shimono's voice. It's just a few clips though so we'll see
Leon's voice still throws me off a lot. It's not bad at all it's just... different

Giddy aunt, that English voice from RF3 is not as good... I too thought that the RF4 version wasn't as good, but now, I like it more XDDD I think of her voice as more structured 'cause the RF3 version is pretty monotonous.
I think it's probably like hatsuu said, some of the voices sound worse, and they'll work better in game, cause I don't remember Ravens voice sounding like that in RF3 so maybe the RF4 voice will sound better in the official game.

My personal qualm with Frey's voice isn't necessarily how high pitched it is but rather the tone (the distinct way it sounds). because other characters like Chlorica and Amber also have voices on the higher end of the spectrum but they still sound pleasant to my ear at least. Just the way it sounds in the first two clips is weird to me? Her voice sounds fine in the third one. Anyway, like other people have said we'll just have to wait until the game comes out to see the voices in context. I think I've gotten over this for the most part and as a whole i think xseed did an excellent job picking out the voices.
Also I definitely would not make any sort of assumption of fighting abilities based on pitch of voice or anything else absurd like that, for me it was more of an issue of what's pleasing to the ear. And of course this varies from person to person and everyone's entitled to state what sounds pleasing to them.

These voices are great. And Frey's is awesome because she's vocied by Melissa Fahn, I can tell.

For me personally I want to wait until I play the game to really judge their voices. Still, did anyone else think Dylas and Leon sound almost exactly alike? Like they might be voiced by the same guy. I hope not at least, again it's only three vague lines so it's still hard for me to tell.

Really? I think they are totally different.

I don't think they sounds alike... at all XD Maybe it just seems that their voices are similar because they're both very deep? Especially compared to the other guys. But, hey, people do often hear things different from other people so maybe they sound alike to you and we would never know...

Matthew Mercer is confirmed as voicing Leon, and D.C. Douglas has confirmed that he is voicing Dylas and Bado. :D
I personally don't think they sound anything alike, but that's my opinion.

Honestly, I can't find a single voice I'm terribly disappointed with! I trusted XSEED to give us as best a voice cast as they can, and they exceeded my expectations. The pitch of Frey's voice came off as a surprise to me, but after a while I find it adorable. She'll have really cute battle grunts aww. And personally, I love Kiel's too.
I love everybody and I just can't get over how good the voices are this time around.
