I also hope they have different types of soils like animal parade.
That's one thing I didn't like about those HM games myself. While I won't deny it can be more realistic, the ways to deal with the weather were anything but realistic, so it ended up just adding complexity to the game just for complexity's sake. I grew up on a very large farm/ranch in Colorado and believe me if we had to deal with the issues that are dealt with in those HM games there would be no food in America. They just went overboard with it.

Besides, there are games out there that are pure farm management games, if that's what I wanted, that's what I would play. I generally play the HM/RF games for the social aspect of them. The farming, mining, upgrading, etc. are just things to do to pass the time, move the story along, etc. I really don't want to have to think too hard on those things as I don't think they are particularly fun.
Thank you for the reply! I just think simple farming from the early games is too simple, a little challenge would spice up the farming aspect, I mean the farm is the most important part. I loved animal parade and sunshine islands because it felt more advance than the boring same soil same three simple weathers. I agree with Mario 64 at least, rune factory 4 had sunshine island's different weathers but it didn't majorly affect your crops. Do you at-least agree that it should be more than sunny, rainy, and storm? I hope you can get sick too.
I agree with you thor, when I played the newer harvest moon's and went back to the originals, it felt too simple and a downgrade. I like more weather and advance crop management. It adds more depth to the farming system, which I feel harvest moon has neglected in some of the games, people have to remember that the farming is just as important as the social/extra activities. WHY HAS NO ONE MENTIONED SWIMMING IN THE OCEAN YET? :shifty:

Been playing RF4 for a while now and I'm just getting into the soil management part of it as I'm working on growing giant golden veggies. I'll be honest ... I just don't like it, I just don't want to have to think about things like that. It's bad enough that each morning I have to water these crops and harvest and etc. I would get monsters to do that for me but I hate the way RF4 did the monster/helper setup (RF3 was much better). Having to manage the monsters that are helping you manage the farm is just about as much work as just doing the work yourself.

I want to visit villagers, clear some dungeons, play with crafting, maybe just fish for a while. Dang I never have time to even fish. All because half my morning I'm working the farm. Granted RF4 is not nearly as bad as HM:ANB, but HM:ANB was a lot easier than some of the HM games just prior, and ... well that's not what I play these games for.

I want the farming to be there. I want some work involved to get great crops and rare crops, but I want it to be fun, not a chore.

If the game can offer more complex farming systems for those that want it, well that's great. I just want to also have the option to not have to pay attention to all that if I really don't want to. From what I've gathered this game is going to have some really deep and detailed social gameplay and that's want I'm really looking forward to.

It doesn't sound like you want a farming game though, if you seem more into the social and adventure play a game like zelda or sims then, everyone has different opinions though, I hate the simple weather and farming system, it makes the farming repetitive and predictable. I was pissed when a new beginning went back to just sunny and rainy, why downgrade the farming system? I loved checking the weather in save the homeland and all these complex weather predictions were said, and in the snes one it was SUNNY OR RAINY, boring.... I hope it is at least more than sunny, rain and storm. I am also excited for the deeper social interactions, wild season seems to be what harvest moon should have turned into. (I'm sorry if it seems we are arguing :( )

THIS GAME SOUNDS SO AWESOME! The creator from harvest moon should take some notes from these guys! One feature

I would love is vacations with the family like from a new beginning and I hope they have generations and rival marriage, I miss those...

and it would be cool to clean up messes from the animals with a pitchfork like a new beginning, that is another tool to add to the roster.

The weather system in sunshine islands was very cool, sunshine islands is my favorite portable hm, (not counting friends of mineral town).
And the animal parade pet system was awesome, diverse pet choices and the wild animals weren't useless.

I HAVE A NEW IDEA! Maybe when your character and the rival couples all have kids you could build a school for them to go daily and you could visit your child or children at school! (This was in rune factory 2 and Hm animal parade i think) i hope they read this!

It's in RF2. :D

As far as weather goes, I don't think we've really been told how complex it will be. I do like in RF4 how the weather changes throughout the day. It's not just rain all day, sunny all day, etc. RF4 also added lightning storms, which has some interesting results. I guess tracking Water Points and Sun Points is ok, as long as it can be done easily IN GAME and I don't have to carry a notepad with me when playing so I can track crop health. What I don't want though is: http://www.gamefaqs.com/3ds/662138-farming-simulator-3d

I agree with you 100%! As long as it isn't as simple as the early games and a little bit challenging then its ok. Schools for children sound awesome too, kids can't just live their lives with no education and it would be cool seeing them with the rival couple's kids.

Yeah, I think Animal parade had it too, and It would be awesome if your kids came home from school and helped you on the farm.

I hope that too, but i wouldn't mind some events happening to weather, (not main plots) like a scary event from lightning or sad part if rainy or a happy seen if sunny and no cloudy day, ect.
