The difference between IOH and SI is. In IOH you start out with nothing on your first day only Taro and his family and you live on the island. But in SI most characters already live on the island plus 2 new characters Lilly and Will. The water and sun points are basically the same.
If you have any questions about the 2 games let us know.

I've never played IOH, but I have SI. I know a big difference is that IOH is stRongly based on stylus controls, which frustrated a lot of people. Personally, I would play SI because it's not primarily stylus controls, but if you prefer that, then go ahead with IOH.
Our hearts, our souls
Are shallow empty holes
We sing this anthem for us all
We're so « Snuggly Bunny » up
Oh « Harvest Goddess », we're so alone
Just close your eyes and sing along

I actually found the controlls on IoH fine. Maybe it was because it was one of my first DS games.
I prefer IoH, because it has a better, more original storyline, and you can go through it slowly. The characters are nice, and the farming, whilst the water and Sun points are annoying, they are realistic.
The most annoying thing, is probably the petting games, which are hard to avoid, luckily, in this game, you don't have to rub really hard. Just for a long, long, long time.
I didn't play SI for very long, because I found it really boring, and the characters boring compared to their IoH counterparts. Of course, it might have been because I didn't play past the first year. Also, the forced socialization. I just want a hermit farmer. Is that too much to ask?

I think SI is the more difficult game. There are all these sun stones that you have to collect to raise islands and such.
I would go with IoH.
Do you have a Wii? I would strongly recommend Animal Parade.

Sunshine Islands is a game whose plot centers around raising the islands around you to create one big island community, whereas Island of Happiness features only one island (or four, if you consider each zone its own island (coincidentally, this one island is the last island to be raised in SI)) which has been completely deserted and must be revived by you. In Sunshine Islands, your main goal is to collect the Sunstones; in Island of Happiness it is to expand the farm and town by shipping certain amounts of crops and spending this and that amount of money at Gannon's. Also, in Island of Happiness, random events have been cut out to make room for the near 100 possible heart events (48 as girl, 48 as boy) whereas in SI, the random events have returned and the heart events have been cut back sharply (now 28 for each). The game play is pretty similar, but the layout has changed and the farming system in SI is a tad easier; the characters have remained basically the same (except one), but there's a lot to know about Vaughn and Denny in particular that they leave out in SI. You learn more about Alisa though. Also I found the Heart Events disappointing, as they're mostly ripped right out of IoH with less development. Also, um,
THOSE WEDDING OUTFITS THO.
Also you get a cat.
I like IoH better, but it may be nostalgia, and I could get past the controls.

Yeah you have to get the sunstones to get the islands but SI Is still fun plus you can make a list of sunstones that you have.Samurott wrote:I think SI is the more difficult game. There are all these sun stones that you have to collect to raise islands and such.

ioh has better gameplay and controls in SI the movement is really clunky
the level barriers and the changed wonderful system in SI are annoying
when Marvelous reuses a batch of characters it usually results as a dud and their personalities are...meh.
i don't mean to rag on SI sorry but i really just didn't enjoy it
the only redeeming features in Sunshine Islands are the new animals, wedding outfits and that you aren't at the mercy of faceless characters.
