How do ou plant your crops?

I know this is a weird question, but upon looking at the giant crops, it looks like most people do 9x9. I usually leave out the middle square, because in a lot of instances you cant get to that crop. Do you tend to leave a square out or have a way to leave all 9 plots in?

I do 3x3 but leave the middle one usually. If I'm trying to get higher level ones, I'll cross 2 3x3 grids.

Back when I played, I planted in 3x3 grids (and only on my farm). I remember only getting a big crop one time, though. I think there's a trick that you can only have one big crop each day, and that you can reset your game the night before if you check your fields to find nothing the next day.

That's why I like to upgrade my watering can asap so I can water the middle crop on 3x3 grid.
...Or I can be lazy and ask HS to do the work for you.
I think it's still possible to have giant crop on 3x3 grids. I did mine with save/reload trick, but it took a lot of time so I did not bother with it too much. But it's still nice to have one or two of them.
