Behind the waterfall

So I have been to the bottom of all of the mines and have unlocked the legendary sword, but whenever I try to unlock the field behind the waterfall nothing happens! What am I doing wrong or is it a really random glitch that only I have? I have restarted twice now and it has happened on both! What can I do to unlock it?!

You have to use the A button instead of the usual Y button in order to destroy the rocks. If you've already tried that then I don't know if anyone can help you.
