My HMDS [For Boy] Freezing/Corrupted

I had gotten the Harvest Moons DS game from a friend a few years ago and never really had a problem with it. I played it rather often that began rather bored with the never changing marriage candidates. So, I gave the Boy Version to my little brother and bought the Harvest Moon DS: Cute for myself. Just a few weeks ago my brother came to me with a frozen "Load File" screen. I looked at it and tried to reload the game to see if it was maybe a small bug or something, but nothing seemed to solve the issue.
I've read that maybe the game had been corrupted by removing the cartridge without turning the power off of the DS first, but I'm not particularly sure what he has or has not done since I have given him the game. I've also read that the battery inside of the game cartridge could be corrupted and you could take the cartridge itself to GameStop and they could reset the game back to new. Could there be a more simple explanation to this problem? I've never had this happen to my Harvest Moon DS: Cute before, so I'm not sure how to aid my brother.
Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

HMDS is well known for glitches. One of the glitches is, unfortunately, game corruption. There are many causes. I believe one of the most common causes is saving in the mines. Hiring sprites also seems to increase risk of corruption. I think it can just be random, too. Restarting the game is the only thing I can think of for your brother to do.
Cute is a lot less glitchy, and I think corruption is much less common.

If you turn it off when saving it corrupts.

Make sure you don't use the Billion G glitch, either, in the Winter. I heard that's supposed to mess the game up too...

I was rather afraid of that... I remember my brother using the Billion G glitch a few years ago.. Is there a possibility of getting the game itself fully reset? It doesn't allow him to overwrite File 1 either.

I think the only thing you can do is start a new game :/ I had that happen to me before, and I didn't get the option to continue, it corrupted everything.

Hmm.. Well, that's disappointing to hear, but also somewhat has a plus side as well. His birthday is coming up in July so I'll be able to look into getting a new Harvest Moon game for him. I'll have to look into ALL of the newer ones to find out which has less glitches in the male version first though lol. >.> And keep him away from sites that give cheats and glitches for the game. So, in a way this is sort of a good thing, kind of. Haha. Thanks for all of your help guys. ^_^ !

theres a version 1.1 of hmds thats supposedly fixed the glitches so you might wanna look for that one if ya rebuy it

The European one fixed some, but it's still a bit dodgy in places.
